IFA or "Discretionary Fund Manager"
I want to change IFAs, so I talked to a different IFA yesterday about transfering my investments for them to manage. I have unit trusts held on a platform (Transact). The new IFA suggested that most Financial Planners do not have access to all the research tools that a stockbroker would have. He suggested transferring…

Which savings account is best? Please.
Hi all, A family member is to have a payout from an insurance and will be getting around £17600. I am just wondering what is the best savings account to put this in. She would need access to this as she may need to withdraw 1k or so in the next 6-12 months. It will be savings towards a mortgage deposit. Thanks. Darren

Recommend a fund platform?
I think I've finally decided on the HSBC FTSE All Share Index ISA as it has the lowest TER. I was going to use fund supermarket Fidelity but am not sure and can't remember why! It looks like Cavendish Online is recommended by some on here too? They say there are no fees for investing, is that true? Are there some hidden…

Severn Trent RPI-linked corporate bond
Anyone who expects inflation to persist and doesn't mind the risk associated with corporate bonds may be interested in this Severn Trent ten year bond, following the precedent of National Grid (see this thread) and Tesco Bank. Briefly, it pays a starting coupon (interest rate) of 1.3% which then moves in line with the RPI.…

What would you do with £400 a month?
I'm currently renting out my home because I've relocated for work purposes. At the end of each month, taking out estate agent fees, i'm left with £400. I need some ideas on what to do with it. I recentlygained interest in parking spaces. They seem like a safe path to follow with a good return, any other ideas? I hate the…

Best execution only share dealing service, no inactivity/quarterly fees? (iweb / XO?)
Hi all I have a few shares held in an account with Interactive Investor, including one company in an ISA. I got an e-mail from II saying that they intend to start charging a quarterly fee, and as I trade very infrequently, this would do me no favours at all. Can anyone recommend a good execution only share dealing service…
