A good Emeging Markets Tracker???
Anyone know of such a tracker? I had a look at Aberdeens Emerging Market performance chart compared to its sector, and it simply tracked the Index. Only out performing it during the last couple of years. So is there a tracker with similar results but lower charges?

HSBC World Selection
Banks have recently come under some scrutiny for the way they market some of their investment products. I was a HSBC Premier customer and was paying a large sum into their World Selection. To be fair the fund did perform well in the first year. I wanted to make certain adjustments to the fund, my idea was to invest in a…

Thomas Cooks Shares
Time to jump on board? I would have thought they will do well if the economy ever starts a sustained recovery? 70p now and have cleared £3 in recent years.

Implications of Transferring Money from Greek to UK Bank
Hi guys. Hopefully someone can help me with a fairly straightforward query. I have a Greek friend whose father wants to transfer a lump sum (about £10k, I believe) from his Greek account to her UK account. He was in the Greek army, and the money is the final lump sum payable at the end of a military trust fund for the…

End of Free Financial Advice
What are your thoughts on RDR, I appreciate that multi tied advisors are not particuluary well though of on this forum, however I do feel that they have a place, for simple decreasing term life policies, smaller investments etc. However these major banks have now dropped out of MT recently in the news: -barclays -HSBC…

Can I transfer TESSA-Only-ISA + Cash Mini ISA?
I've got a TESSA-Only-ISA (ie Matured TESSA) and a Cash Mini ISA. Both have such low interest rates that I'd probably be much better off with the money in a normal savings account, even without the tax relief! What I want to know is... Can I transfer the money from both the TESSA-Only-ISA and the Cash Mini ISA into a new…

annual returns from active investment?
As an economics student, I read a lot of literature saying that there's no point actively investing/trading in individual stocks/shares/areas/etc, as the market is efficiently priced and your returns wont be much higher than if you'd just bought, for example, the whole ftse. How many of you make annual returns that justify…

Post Office and Bank Of Ireland
In the current climate where things may go from bad to worse...am I correct in assuming the Post Office Savings products are actually provided by the Bank of Ireland? Let's assume the Bank of Ireland gets into serious difficulty, are savings backed by the UK or Irish compensation scheme? Do such schemes only guarantee the…

Very confused about ISA bonus'
I opened an ISA account in July 2010 which had a 2.35% interest rate, including a 1.35% 12-month bonus. Some interest was paid on 31 March 2011 (less than 1% by the looks of it) but I have been told that I have to wait until 31 March 2012 for the rest to be paid. Is this right - I assumed the bonus rate would be paid on…

Very confused - where do you go for advice about saving?
Hi there, I will soon have a reasonable amount of money to save, but don't know where to go to get some advice. Having read Martins Facebook page about how banks are only there to make money out of you, I am reluctant to go to my bank. But I'm unsure about Financial Advisors - aren't they about making money for themselves…
