I'm looking to open a new bank account that has onlin banking as standard, with a minimum or preferably no monthly charge for using the service. It would also be very beneficial if i can open it with no deposit right now as i would need to open it with nothing and get work to pay into the new account within a week or so.…

Buffett bets against hedge fund
Just in case you haven't see this, Warren Buffett has bet some of his own money that a fund of hedge funds cannot beat the S&P index over 10 years. The hedge fund manager has put in the same amount of money. After 10 years, the money will go to a charity of the winner's choosing. More details here:…

Interest free savings for self employed person - questions
Hello Everyone, This may sound like a really silly question but I'm recently self employed and a friend mentioned that I could save tax free with things like ISAs. My question is that is it tax free in the sense that say I earned 50k in a year and I put 3000 into an ISA would I only pay tax on 47k that year ?

Multi-managers
I really need some assistance. I want to move my #21K Cash ISA into an Equity ISA and also pay #600 a month into it. I know my limitations with regards to managing this myself. It seems a Wealth Manager would be a better idea, but they (obviously) come with fees - 5% contributions fee and 1.5% annual fee, for example.…

Spreading my monthly savings
Hello :) After finally getting myself out of stupid debts, I have just written up a budget and come to the conclusion that I can realistically save about £1300 a month after all outgoings. At the moment, I pay 3% of my salary (about £130 after added tax rebate) every month into my pension (my employer puts in 6% I think) I…

Bankers telling porkie pies again - Lehman Brothers
From the article : " Just last week the bank denied it was facing funding problems." Now it wants £3 billion pounds!!!! Just like Bradford & Bingley, RBS, etc. did. You have to laugh when people on this discussion board believe a thing these bankers say when they have the begging bowl out. Don't give them your money!!…

Any other decent rates in the pipeline?
I'll be taking up the 10% with Halifax (after I've closed my 7% account!) but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other decent rates about to be launched. I'm thinking of my lump sum here! Is it normal that once one bank has launched a high rate account others will follow? Any thoughts?

Good High Rate Savings account that sends and receives fast payments
Does anyone know any good accounts that send and receive faster payments. I have an ICICI account, but they only receive faster payments (supposedly) but not send them. I would like a good account 5%+ that you can send and receive using the faster payment scheme.

Not Money Laundering
I tried to transfer £10, 000 from my Barclays account to another bank; but the transaction was refused because I don't have the new Barclays pin sentry card reader. It will take upto 7 working days to receive this. I'm thinking of going into my local Barclays branch and withdrawing the £10,000 out in cash and then…

Britannia £20 M & S voucher offer
Britannia have written to us today offering £20 of M & S Vouchers if we top up our savings account by £1000 before the end of September. They pay pretty poor interest rates and this offer appears to be aimed at specific customers, so according to their guidlines, there appears to be no reason why we shouldn't top the…

ISA Confusion
Hi all Just a quick question on ISA's: a) Does the Interest usually get paid at the end of the financial year or on a monthly basis? The reason I ask is that at the end of the financial year there's always loads of messages on these forums (yes I troll a lot!) about getting the ISA's signed up before the deadline. Does…
