Lloyds TSB Savings- Do they credit check you?

Hi, new on this board so please go easy with me! To understand why I ask this question is explained more in the Basic Bank Account thread.

On their web site they have this and I'd like to know what they mean?

Before opening an Account, we may take up references or otherwise satisfy ourselves of your identity and suitability as an Account holder.

The word is ''suitability'' I don't have good credit history and was wondering if they would credit check you? I know the C0-OP bank do for savings!

They credit-checked me before accepting my ISA transfer in March, although I have been a customer since the early 1980s and have my current a/c & significant funds with them.

:eek: :eek: Thanks for that, why if you are putting money in do you have to credit checked? I know that they have to do the money laundring checks, anyone else been credit checked for savings?

These are not 'credit checks' - they are 'identity checks', and they do not show up to searchers if you are applying for credit.

If you apply for your credit report, you'll see both credit and identity checks, and also the checks that are put on there whenever a credit report is asked for. You are the only one who can see this last type of check.
