How safe are nominee accounts ?
I've tried to find this out for myself but there seems to be 2 schools of thought, viz:- 1 - shares are ring fenced so no danger if broker goes bust. 2 - for FSA regulated brokers there is 100% compensation up to £30k then on a sliding scale beyond that up to a max of £50k. Can anyone tell me the definitive answer. I have…

Should I send out cash lump or set up Nationwide account in UK for Caribbean
I have to transfer some money to my parents but the exchange rate is 4.2 east carribean dollars to the pound despite seeing online that it is 4.6 at the moment. Does this mean that the bank rate takes away .4% plus the transfer fee. Also there is no way that that figure can be guaranteed by the time it gets there. (7…

Cheeky ING Trick!
I've recently been sent mailshots at both my house and my parents', advertising ING's internet savings account with a great rate. However - READ THE SMALL PRINT! It states "rate correct at 1/1/06". It certainly was then - but dropped the day after by 0.5%. I opened an account with them in November so I was emailed, but I…

Anglo Irish Identification
Has anyone got one of their accounts? I've just sent for an application form, since they're currently top of the interest rate pile, and was rather surprised to see that they want a utility bill for identification every time you make a deposit!!!
