13000£ , want to put in for a year in a safe, high Interest rate investment.

Hi there

I have 13000£ maturing out of halifax guaranteed reserve and I want to seek greener pastures now. I already have bank accounts with HSBC, Natwest , HAlifax and Lloyds, and the thought of opening another account makes me ill.
I am crap at remebering pin numbers and would really hate to open another account. I would like to put away savings for a max of 1 year. What will be the best place to put them, in a risk free zone.

thanks a lot
Inside I am THINKING.

  • Since you're already with HSBC I would think a First Direct e-savings account at 5% would be ideal. £13k will be covered by the FSA guarantee. If not then I'm wondering how much risk and how high a return do you want for such a sum?
