Anglo Irish Identification

Has anyone got one of their accounts? I've just sent for an application form, since they're currently top of the interest rate pile, and was rather surprised to see that they want a utility bill for identification every time you make a deposit!!!

Yes, I emailed them to check. It's a bit over the top isn't it!!

Well, I've just telephoned them because that just sounded too mad for words. A very nice lady told me that this is run like any other deposit account; you provide ID when opening the account and away you go. She couldn't work out why you were told otherwise, unless you wanted to transfer money electronically in which case you would have to provide a third piece of ( photo ) ID but even that only once.

I've sent them another email to clarify wether they want ID every time, or just for ones that don't come from the account that was originally used for the opening deposit, and they've confirmed every deposit. I've also just re-read the terms and conditions, and noticed that you need a utility bill and a certified copy of a passport or driving licence, not just the bill!
