First Capital Connect
I am stunned by a trip to London recently which is now resulting in a £57.57 demand from FCC or criminal conviction. Travelling on the London Underground to Kentish Town and then walking up the escalator onto the FCC Kentish Town station, there is a tiny passage way, which last year had two poorly-sited oyster machines…

Advice re:Greeenwich and travelling around
Hi, going for the second time in 2 years to London. Loved the experience so much last time we thought we would take in the Emirates Airline and the Royal Observatory if possible. Even more touristy would be a river boat trip from Westminster to Greenwich. But to be honest Im a bit confused with the distances, we have all…

Cyclescheme: advice needed - end of hire early
Hi, I left my company half way through the hire scheme so had to pay the rest of the scheme in one lump sum out of my last paycheck. I am now being told that I either need to extend my hire agreement by 3 years for £69.93, take full ownership for £250 or give the bike back. If I had stayed with my company, I would still…

Booking seat on return after booking ticket
Is it possible to book a seat for the return part of a ticket after buying it? E.g. walking on and buying an off peak return, without knowing until later when you need to return? And if so, what's the best way to go about it if you can't go to a manned station before returning? At the moment it's a hypothetical question.…

Northern Rail ticket machine, not the best logic, be warned.
Arrived at a NR station today before ticket office opened, but it has a machine. To get a ticket you choose your destination. As it is a common trip the ticket we wanted was on a shortcut button. Pressed for return ticket. You are then presented with a screen to choose the number of tickets. I selected 2 adult and 1 child…

Tesco Extra now stock 16" inner tubes (£3)
It's long been an annoyance to me that these cost at least £4.99 from bike shops whilst 26" ones, using twice the volume of rubber, are available at Poundland.

Clarification Needed re: Forgotten Young Person's Railcard
Hello everyone, Posted this in Consumer Rights and a suggestion was made to post it here, so here goes nothing... In a nutshell: My partner travelled on a Southern Rail service from London - Brighton yesterday, and has been fined £55 (cost of new ticket + penalty fare) for travelling without her young person's railcard.…

High Speed Line From Stratford
I need to commute from Stratford International to St Pancras. However, on some days (maybe 1-2 days per week) I also need to go to other parts of London and on weekends it would be nice to travel on the tube. I cannot find an option to combine a zonal tube pass with the high speed line from Stratford to StP. I know if you…

Cheap train tickets day before, small stations?
I need to travel from and to fairly small stations (Winchester to Whitchurch, Shrops.) and can't buy in advance - the cheapest I can find is just over £94!! There has to be *some* way of breaking up the journey to make it cheaper, doesn't there?! I've done the ticket split, with no luck, and I've tried breaking the journey…

South west trains and IRCAS
Good evening all. In February I boarded a train at norbiton using (so I thought) my contactless credit card. I tapped it on and the bloke let me through. The barriers are always down. When i got to the other end the card didn't work. I'm told at that end it shouldn't have worked and evidently didn't. The card troubles…

London Wembley Tube Parking or thereabouts?
Can anyone tell me of any free or paid parking (tube stations) around Wembley Park London way? We are not going to Wembley but the Metropolitan line (or Jubilee) line tube is preferable to us as we need to get into BAKER street station. We always used Wembley Park Tube as this had a car park and was brilliant, but they cut…
