Good Cycle Infrastructure
Following on from the 'why don't cyclists use cycle lanes?' thread with its links to the all-too-common crap we have in this country I thought a discussion of what we do want would be both interesting and educational, ideally with pictures. So, any examples, or any thoughts about what YOU want from cycle infrastructure?

Complain to save
I am one of the victims of the terrible service provided by First Great Western. I have found that it really does pay to complain, not just claim refunds. I have complained to my MP several times about the service, via email. My MP forwards these to the train company and I receive large value train vouchers as a result .…

Hs2
As TPTB are now claiming that HS2 is more about capacity than speed, why not save the £50bn or whatever it will cost, and instead go double-decker on the existing West Coat Mainline. Bridges.......just dig down a few feet to lower the level of the track so that the double decker trains will fit under the bridges. They…

Cycling
This may have been suggested before but couldn't cycling be separated from public transport? As a cyclist, all the cycling tips here are great but wading through all the other stuff is a pain. I know there's a public transport aspect and this can still be discussed in a dedicated cycling forum.

I am travelling down to Hull in March of next year (22nd to be precise) and plan to use East Coast Railways for the journey as on their website similar dates are…

Should Black Or Dark-Coloured Cars 'Wear' Hi-Viz?
What's with the fashion for buying black cars nowadays ? It seems to have replace the trend for silver and before that red cars. In daylight these cars aren't conspicuous and in low light or at night, despited their lights, it's sometimes hard to judge their width/dimensions, especially if they're coming close to oneself…

DLR fine - touched in oyster card but fare not registered
Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice on an appeal. Today I was given a fine by a PTA on the DLR. I touched in my prepaid oyster at a DLR station and it beeped. A PTA checked it with the hand scanner and it had not registered me touching in. I explained to the PTA that I was traveling down to London for work, showed them…

South West Trains
Hi We are going down to Portsmouth early next year. We are going by train. It appears unlike most other train companies you cannot reserve any type of seats on their trains-1st class or otherwise. My question is are their trains busy? We would be travelling via Waterloo and it would be mid morning both ways, so not in the…

I'm travelling in the first week of the new year and decided to be all organised and book my return ticket online with First Great Western. I requested 1st class delivery of tickets. Roll on 9 working days and I've received every Christmas order within 2 days of payment but no tickets. I called the train line and spoke to…

Train ticket penalty - need advice
Hello everyone, I hope someone can help me on this problem. I don't think there's a solution but was wondering if someone,by experience, could help me as the penalty charge being asked to pay it's simply ridicolous. I get the ticket all the time from station A to B. station A has an office where I can buy ticket, office B…

Bus driver without change.
Hello, I got a bus home earlier and only had a £10 note, the driver had no change and was about to kick me off when a nice lady offered me two £5 notes in exchange for it, was it my right to ride anyway, as I had the money, or could he of told me to get off? Not a big issue I know but just wondering what the rules are on…

Red spotted hanky
I've bought some tickets for travel over CHRISTMAS but I'd rather print them off before the day of travel, just to be doubly sure. Can I print them off from my nearest station or do I have to print them from the station of departure? Many thanks.
