To my surprise and disgust I was unconditionally told to provide physical evidence of my date of birth. Before my purchase could be handed over.…

Nextdoor
I became concerned after receiving an "invitation" from a "neighbour" to join a local community forum covering a "neighbourhood" that's a fiction. It originates from a company called "Nextdoor". This USA based company sends out "invitations" to join their forum of local communities using the names of people who have signed…

Uber- scheduled booking wait time scam
Hi Forum Uber has a facility where you can schedule a taxi in advance. This is helpful, say for an early morning airport ride. It offers you a 10 minute window in which to expect your ride. However, the drivers commonly arrive 10 to 15 minutes early and then charge a wait time form when they arrive. The charge is fairly…

Fake TV Licence E-mail
Had an e-mail from "TV Licensing" telling me my licence expired today and my bank had declined my DD. It would appear that "TV Licensing" have forgotten how to spell "licence" and are originating their e-mails from Japan!

Amazon Prime
First, hopefully, this is on the right Forum Now I am not sure if this affects just me or many. It seems that every time I buy an item on Amazon, whether it is a 99p book for my kindle, or a £50 purchase, whatever, I am automatically forced to join Prime. Three times this year, on checking my credit card bill, I find…

Praise Thai Airways help with date change
Booked a domestic flight on line put the wrong outward date. Realised later same day. Could not contact anyone in the UK so sent an email, later the next day Thai airways got back to me and agreed to change the date for about £12, given that the ticket did not allow any changes , I think they deserve a mention.

Kwik Fit Are Useless.
Before i continue, i know from the threads here and word of mouth Kwik Fit are generally not a place to take your car to But i take my car to them still for wheel alignment and tyres only. United Utilities - bit of a rant/warning
Our water etc is supplied by United Utilities. We are on a water meter and pay by monthly direct debit. I received an email from them yesterday alerting me to the fact that they had generated a new bill which I could see online. When I looked at my account I could see that the account was in credit by more than £50.00 -…

With the aid of my significant half he took a picture of me on Monday for the purpose of renewing my passport. We applied online and sent by SP my old passport. By Wednesday they advised the new one was on its way and received Friday the same week. Considering this is probably one of their busiest times I thought this was…

Specky Four Eyes
Did anyone else use the offer in the recent MSE email? Have your glasses been packed well? I've never used them before but ordered a pair of glasses. They've arrived this morning. They're in a soft case and they've put them in a cheap jiffy bag. It must have been squashed somewhere in transit as the frame is bent out of…

Avoid being fleeced for mail order
Like many older people, my Mother can't get out as much as she used to and, not being internet savvy, likes to be independent and order clothes by phone from Cotton Traders. This is a good company, selling clothes, shoes etc, aimed at those over 50, which sends glossy catalogues by post on a regular basis and allows…

Veggie and Vegan Rant
why the double standards ? Its a lifestyle choice, its YOUR lifestyle choice - not mine  Scenario 1: a) You invite one round for a meal, they EXPECT you to have produced a suitable meal option for them - cause you knew they were veggie/vegan....right b) You go to theirs for a meal ---meat option --- urm nope, no way -…
