HM Passport office

With the aid of my significant half he took a picture of me on Monday for the purpose of renewing my passport. We applied online and sent by SP my old passport. By Wednesday they advised the new one was on its way and received Friday the same week.

Considering this is probably one of their busiest times I thought this was excellent service.

  • I agree, I renewed mine this month as it was expiring. I don't have any trips booked, but use my passport frequently for ID purposes with work, so prefer to keep it in date. I cant remember the exact turnaround times but it was about 8/9 days including weekend. Pretty straightforward service

Agree. Passport Office was very efficient. Even quicker if you get your photos taken at somewhere like Max Spillman who then upload your pics to the Passport Office website and then give you a code to enter into the application.

The photos are also linked to DVLA so you can renew your licence with the same photo.

I don't think it makes any difference to the speed of the application if you upload them yourself or get somewhere else to take and upload them.

As this is MSE you should be taking the pic yourself and uploading it so you don't have to pay.

    Another impressed customer.

Submitted last Thursday evening, old passport received by them yesterday (Monday), new passport confirmed on the way today (Tuesday).

    Updates at every stage.

    I submitted my own photo.

    I disagree.

The photos taken by Spillmans etc are done as per the HMPO requirements. Much less likely to have these rejected than ones you upload yourself.

The requirements are pretty clear and it's not difficult to get a suitable picture. I've done it without any issues and know at least one other person who has as well.

Had no idea they offered that as a service.

Many of the photo booth in Wilko's, Tesco and shopping centres now do these digital photos for passports. Normally about £5-£6
