Fake TV Licence E-mail

Had an e-mail from "TV Licensing" telling me my licence expired today and my bank had declined my DD. It would appear that "TV Licensing" have forgotten how to spell "licence" and are originating their e-mails from Japan!
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

What spelling did they use?
I know what you mean ... even The BBC/Capita don't use British English (licensing rather than licencing), although they do use licence correctly.

Licensing is correct as is practising. Both are "British" English.
Licence and practice are nouns. e.g. TV Licence, Dental Practice.0 -
This scam was featured some time ago on You & Yours on Radio 4. The reporter commented that her producer had spotted that it was a scam straight away owing to the incorrect spelling of licence.
I gather it is quite a clever scam so highlighting it, and any others, is always worthwhile.Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid0 -
I imagine that TV Licensing are more worthwhile to impersonate on account of them serving a greater proportion of the UK population than any bank.
Also, TV Licensing are not great at their official communications, so a fraudulent email becomes that much harder to spot.
If anyone is ever in any doubt over the authenticity of an email from TV Licensing, don't use any details from the email, but contact them using their official phone contact numbers:-
