Virgin on the downright rogue
In early August I contacted Virgin Media to cancel all of my services. I had read that it can be a nightmare to fully close the account with them so i logged in today to check. It turned out they had cancelled my tv and broadband but my telephone package and line rental was still being billed!!! I called them and they told…

Basically, this is my situation : I have two phone lines at home - the main one, which has the handsets connected to and the number the whole family uses, and a second one which…

Home handset with audible answerphone warning
Can anyone recommend a handset that 'bleeps' when a new message is left. Ours just flashes and we often miss it. I've looked on the net but phone specs usually just say 'answer phone' with no detail. Thanks

Call Blocking Companies
I made the mistake of registering with a call blocking company called Nuisance Call Registry. As I had been plagued but it does go through phases, I decided to join. The woman on the phone said that the fee was £42 for life. The e-mail from them said the same. The website says annual. After reading some bad press I decided…

Voice Text on landline?
I'm sure there is a way to send a voice text to a landline. In fact I know in the past I have received a couple although that was probably a few years ago. Is it still possible and if so, how?

Switching from TalkTalk to Plusnet - Keeping number
I'm currently on TalkTalk LLU for landline, calls and broadband. My minimum term contract is up and I can get a better deal from Plusnet for the same. When I switch to Plusnet will TalkTalk hold my number to ransom as I would like to keep it? It was originally a BT landline number before I moved to TalkTalk LLU. I'm sure I…

Skype phone calls now really cheap?
I use skype on the computer to talk to my daughter in Qatar etc. I've never used it for anything else but I am aware that you can use it to phone not just another computer but also to any landline or mobile. I have always understood - I think it says so on this site somewhere - that its calling rates are not competitive,…

If you haggle a new Virgin Media rate is this a new contract?
Before I begin haggling with Virgin Media I have one query - if they do agree to reduce my monthly bill will they then regard this as essentially a new contract? I don't want to be hit with some contract-break penalty if I have to move in six months. I've been with Virgin for several years and they are now hitting me with…

Chess telcom
Has anyone else had problems with Chess Telecom? I work for a small community centre which is a registered charity and the lovely Chess Telecom have set up 2 leases for us and refusing to cancel 1 of them even though they have clearly said we don't need both of them! these leases are each costing us £300 a quarter and is…

Spam caller 1471 reports my own number
It looks like a worrying development in the scam/spam calls debacle. Today I received a call at 10.16 am from someone purporting to be from Accident Helpline on my home phone, told them I was on TPS and they hung up. On dialling 1471 the call registered at 10.16am was reported as my own telephone number. I have not…

A bit confused about Landline
I've had a good read through the BT thread, but I'm still in a bit of a muddle about what option is best for me. I have paid up my BT line rental saver until 2nd January. Currently have BT privacy purely for caller ID and use it. Our broadband is Plusnet Premium (120GB bandwidth) £19.99 per month, no contract. We've had it…

Connect telecom (18185) billing
Anyone else noticed that they no longer send you an email in advance of applying for the direct debit?? I thought it was a one off earlier this year, but now,for the third time, they have raised an invoice without informing me.As it is for such a small amount it isn't an issue (about £1.50!!) for payment but........ I've…

Contacting Neil, the BT rep
I am assuming that when Neil asks someone to send him details via the link in his profile, he means via the BT forum. However, I cannot access it. If I try user names that I've used elsewhere, I can't match up a password, but if I use the forgotten password link, it says that no member has my email address. If I try to…

Poor quality landline calls
Hi! I'm having a problem with my landline. I can receive calls with no problems, but when I phone my parents they tell me that the call is breaking up. They are the only people who have said this, and the call sounds perfectly fine to me. They receive calls from everybody else with no problems. I know that I have had…

our buyers are cancelling our phone line!!!
So, we're in the process of moving. Not at exchange for at least a few more weeks. Our buyers have called up BT, who have in turn informed Sky that our line will be cancelled as of 21st October we will still be here at that point, and want to stay with Sky. I've just called them up & they've said that the cancellation of…
