Voice Text on landline?

I'm sure there is a way to send a voice text to a landline. In fact I know in the past I have received a couple although that was probably a few years ago.

Is it still possible and if so, how?

Try sending an SMS to your landline to see what happens.

You need to register for it and if you have a text enabled landline phone, you will also need to subscribe to the BT Caller Display service to read them.. If you don't subscribe, you will receive text messages as voice messages. If you dont register for the service, you will also receive text messages as voice messages.
  • I was having a thick moment this morning and trying just to type a message on my mobile and send it to a landline, which it wouldn't do.

I thought I would trying sending to my own phone to see if it worked and when I brought up my home number there were two symbols, one to call and one to text.

My next question is though if someone has an answer machine and are not around when the text calls comes through does it go on to the machine?

I have voicemail, (not an answer machine), and text to voice messages do get left on it.

Yeah you can get SMS texts to a home line. I used to get some ages back. But they were computer generated voices and totally useless.

I disabled the option so they stopped. But recently they started again despite the service being disabled.

    Hopefully BT have sorted it.
