slugs
Hi, We have a 4 month old Lhasa Apso puppy and everything is going reasonably well so far. At the moment he goes to the loo in our garden and not on walks. With the recent wet and warm weather the garden occasionally has slugs on the grass and I believe they are potentially bad for him if he ingests one. How do the more…

Slow Feeders, anyone use them?
I use a run of the mill ordinary slow feeder (looks like a propeller shape) for both my boxers. For the girl it takes her a good ten minutes to eat her dinner. For the boy, it's all scoffed down within two minutes. Can anyone recommend a better slow feeder that will slow him down? I've looked at the Kyjen Drop Mini slo…

Dog wee smell on concrete
My dog uses our yard as a toilet. I regularly hose it down & scrub the area with a hard brush but it is starting to smell, especially when it rains. Any advice on products to clean away the smell? It gets worse when it's wet. Thanks!

Need a dog friendly resort!
I had an amazing holiday last year in Dorset which was unbelievably dog friendly. Only place the dog couldn't go into was the indoor pool! Bars, pubs, hotels, restaurants, shops and even beaches welcomed dogs all year round. I'd like to find somewhere similar, but if possible slightly nearer to home. I'm easy to please, I…

Unpleasant dog poo (sorry for detail)
Our almost 10 year old jack russell cross seems so go a bit listless every now and again and she passes a poo that looks like raw giblets - dark pink, soft and with what looks like guts in it. The first time we took the poo to the vet, he confirmed it looked bloody, asked if she was likely to eat anything she found, and…

When and if to spay?
I have 10 month old Border Collie pup who I am unsure whether to have spayed or not. I have always had only female dogs and all have been spayed as soon as they were old enough. She's already had her first season and I'm not at all worried about her coming on heat again (was not a problem) or being got at by a male (I can…

Our male cat is a neurotic 12 year old black crossbreed - he has always been "friendly" to us - but runs a mile when the postman puts a letter through the letter box, the bin men call and as for any visitors, he disappears for hours !! 12 months ago - he had his Thyroid removed by the vet This was after years of symptoms…

Bassett Hound bald patch
Went downstairs this morning to feed and water the hounds and while stroking the Bassett I noticed a large bald patch on the front of her neck/chest area. It's huge - about half the size of an A4 piece of paper :( I've been away for 4 days and got back late last night so just realised it now. Have checked for any evidence…
