Slow Feeders, anyone use them?

I use a run of the mill ordinary slow feeder (looks like a propeller shape) for both my boxers. For the girl it takes her a good ten minutes to eat her dinner. For the boy, it's all scoffed down within two minutes.

Can anyone recommend a better slow feeder that will slow him down? I've looked at the Kyjen Drop Mini slo feeder and think this might be suitable. What are your experiences with your dogs and slow feeders?

I use Green feeders for mine - video here (this is about half her amount of normal breakfast, as she'd already eaten before the video)

I also used Kongs - stuffed well and frozen to make them last longer.
  • I use the bowls similar to you - have you tried one with a different pattern of blocks inside as this may help?

I did actually buy a green feeder but finally found a bowl that worked so it's still in its box (wish I'd taken it back as it wasn't cheap!)

I bought a green feeder. I got it for £19.40 on eBay with free delivery. I would have bought it from Amazon but it was £19.99 then they wanted £3.30 delivery. When did this sneaky little fee creep in?

Funnily enough ..... I went to buy somethiing on Friday and noticed it said 'free delivery on orders over £20' (unless it was books and it was over £10)

I'm positive it used to be free delivery on orders over £10 for everything - I have a subscribe & save on Archie's dry food and it's only £11.38 and I never paid delivery on it!

I've cancelled his subscribe & save (it was due and didn't want to get charged) until I can do more investigation

I was also going to get him a bag of Thrive to try (about £14) but I won't bother with that either now!

They'll do themselves out of a lot of business!

I buy my dog food from Berriewood online. I order one day they deliver the next (and it's free delivery) if you buy two or more bags it's cheaper.

You are right Amazon are going to lose a lot of business over this, I don't suppose it'll bother them tho.
  • Thanks - I'll have a look at Berriewood next time I need the dog's food (mum has recently moved her dog onto the same food as Maisie gets so hopefully we'll be able to get some bulk deals!)
