What stuff is cheaper to buy in US compared to the UK?
Im travelling to the US soon and I'm wondering what stuff is genuinely cheaper to buy there than in the UK. For example, an iPhone is around £150 cheaper (the one I'm looking at) due to the exchange rate. But are there other examples? I need a new leatherman - cheaper in the US? And some new clothing... Any ideas on what…

Sri Lanka visa
DON’T be tempted to use a visa agency to get your visa for Sri Lanka. I did mine on-line, directly with the issuing authority. I came to the place on the form where you have to put in your address(es) in the country. My tour has 6 hotels, but you are only given 90 characters – clearly not enough – so I decided to ask the…

Travel insurance query
I was interested to see the item in this week's MSE newsletter about travel insurance and making claims or cancelling your holiday before travel, but I would really appreciate some clarification on this. Assuming you want a single trip policy as opposed to an annual multi trip (as I'd imagine they can be difficult and…

July 2016- buy now or wait?
Hi folks, We want to go to Sardinia for July 1-2 weeks, hopefully Costa Smeralda. Did anyone get any last-minute bargains last year? We have no idea about package deals as usually drive & camp but doing this seems v.expensive for this destination. What kind of super cheap deals exist in July for a nice beach destination?

New flights released on Onthebeach
This may be a silly question, but when new flights are released (as in Easyjet's going on sale tomorrow) do they automatically appear on sites like Onthebeach etc as they're released? I've never booked separately before and worried I'll miss something so think I prefer to go through On the Beach, but at the same time,…

Hi, I was caught up in the traffic yesterday afternoon on the M56 following a tanker over turning and subsequent motorway closure on the way to Manchester Airport and delayed by 5 hours and consequently missed our flight. Sneaky travel insurance
Hi forumites. We booked annual travel insurance to cover a number of trips this year. Unfortunately, we were unable to take one of our trips, so made an insurance claim. After completing the process the insurance company deducted the premium from the payment, but charged us £100 excess PER PERSON not per claim. Caveat…

Car Hire Excess Insurance - any advice please??
Hi, we have family in the USA - so far, this has been a temporary thing, but has now become permanent as full-time jobs have now been secured.
