Sri Lanka visa

DON’T be tempted to use a visa agency to get your visa for Sri Lanka.
I did mine on-line, directly with the issuing authority. I came to the place on the form where you have to put in your address(es) in the country. My tour has 6 hotels, but you are only given 90 characters – clearly not enough – so I decided to ask the tour company’s recommended visa agency (CIBT) how to get round this. I was told that I had to get the visa through them in order for them to give me any information: they send you a form, you send it back to them, then they (presumably) go on the same website that I was already on! All for £42 – the direct website charges USD 30.
I decided to just put in the name of the first hotel, say that it is one of 6 and that I am on a tour. I sent off the form, after paying the USD 30 via a card.

I got an email acknowledgement of the application within a few minutes and seven MINUTES later I received an email to say my visa had been granted.

Save yourselves about £22.

Visa application forms only expect you to put the first address.
With independent travellers that's often all they know anyway as they just wing it and book accommodation on the spot.

If you don't know where your first address will be, these just pick one off Agoda.

Some application forms have a line for father or mother's. Just ignore it.

Ditto for other family members. If they're not travelling with you just write none.

They might ask how your holiday is being funded? Just say savings.

Occupation? Best not to say jounalist, or anything out of the ordinary.
