cauliflower leaves
I bought a cauliflower the other day, I love it but have to "persuade" my family to eat it. It has now been eaten up but there are a lot if leaves with thick stalks left. Cant bear wasting food so what can I do with them? Can't use them as cabbage as family is equally resistant to this. Would it make a good soup? Or would…

How to store homemade pasta sauces etc without staining the plastic pots?
I live alone and sometimes I cook enough for 2 or 3 meals worth of food. The problem is most of the food I cook is either homemade curries or tomato based dishes - spag bol etc. I store the uneaten portions in tuppaware pots in the fridge for up to 4 days before I use them. When I have emptied the pot, I put it in the sink…

How to fold clothes the best way
Hi, Although this isn't exactly money-saving, I thought this sounded like the best board to seek opinion on. What is the best way to fold the various items of clothes to keep them in best conditon and least scrumpled. I'm planning to go through my drawers and get rid of anything (by ebay ;-) I don't want to keep and then…

Dried active yeast - an idiots guide!
I usually hand bake bread using HFW's cheaty yeasty loaf method and always use the easy bake yeast but I bought some Allinson dried active and wanted to compare if using the two resulted in a better (or worse) loaf! With easy blend I just use 5g or a level teaspoon but you have to re activate the active in 150ml warm water…

I would like to make different varieties of scone eg stilton and walnut, olive and feta etc, I would like to be able to put them in the freezer and take out only a couple at a time because, obviously scones do not keep very well. Exterior brass look door handles
The brass look handles on my newish exterior doors look tarnished after the winter. I have tried washing with hot soapy water but there is no improvement. Does anybody have any ideas on the best way to get rid of the marks. I am anxious not to remove the lacquer coating on them.

Living off £1.78 a day?
Hello! So, I've just finished university (at long last!) and have entered the seemingly deadly world of looking for work. At first I thought, "Hey, I've got a good degree, transferable skills, and £300 in the bank, more than enough to last until I get a job!" Then, obviously, I became acquainted with the real world. Yeah,…
