O/S Daily Friday 22nd February

O/S Friday 22nd 2013 This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well”

    Morning all :j:j

Just let the cats out and it seems warmer out there than the last few mornings.

Quite day here for me today.
My Wife has work this afternoon.
The twins are off out with the SIL for the day . She has the day off work and asked if she could have a fun day with them. She dose not have any of her own kids yet, But like quite a lot of women in there late 20's she would love one of her own. Its just never been the right time for her. She Went to uni. Then Got a job and worked hard. She and her boyfriend own there own home. But only Ended up with that this year. It took just over two years for them to find somewhere to buy, This house that they have now ended up being about the 7th one that they went after. All the other's for one thing or another fell though, Two of them fell though at the very last minute. Lots of sadness and hurt over all of them and not forgetting large amounts of money that ended up being lost too.
Still they are sorted now so you never know what might come along.
The twins are also going to stop over at her house for the night. This will be the first time they have stopped with her and her boyfriend on there own. They know both of them really well. So there should not be a problem. But twin 2 we have found has got a little upset the last few times when she has been at my mum's or my wife's mum's house for the night. The upset has never lasted long. Not sure why that's started as they have both always loved having sleep over's . we think it might be just an age thing with her. and Her wanting her Mum. Twin Two is a bit more "Feeling" than twin one.

My wife and I were thinking about going out for a meal tonight as we don't have the girls. but we have decided not too as we really can not afford it at the monument. It;s my Birthday next week and we are off out for a meal to morrow night with my Mum,Dad.brother and his partner and not for getting the girls. So it Not like we won't get a meal out. And Dads paying tomorrow so it wont cost us anything.

Will need to sort something out for dinner tonight so I will need to have a think about that.

Well I hope that you all enjoy your Friday!

    Enjoy:j:j

Morning Halight and all who follow.

I'm not sure how, but I've been sleeping really well this week:T Still in 2 or 3 hour bits, but I have been going back to sleep straight away, not lying there wide awake.:o

Thouht the weatherman said it was going to be freezing this morning, no frost here:T

Busy day for me today. 9.30 Hairdresser, 10.30 dental check up. 2.00 Hospital. Last check on my arm, which is fine now, thank goodness. Next thing is a small op on March 11th. Getting myself really well at last.

No more weight loss at the moment, but I'm sticking to it. I want to start swimming again, but it's too cold at the moment:rotfl:

Made a huge pot of French Onion Soup yeaterday as DD said she really wanted some. She has been sick a lot recently so giving her something she fancies is really good.
Also made oxtail stew with oxtail soup as the gravy for OH and myself this evening.

Have a good weekend if I don't get back.

    ((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))

    Have a good day all!

  • Good morning all,
Cold here too but no frost which is good.
Going into town with dd today. We are looking for prom dresses. Not making a decision today though. Hopefully she will see some she likes so that she can fit them on.
Wm is on. Did ironing yesterday but it doesn't take long before there is another pile to do.
We paid some money off our mortgage yesterday. Not a huge amount but a sizeable amount to us.
Chicken with potatoes and veg for dinner tonight.
halight, i hope you enjoy your meal tomorrow.
hilstep, good to hear youare starting to feel well. Wow you do have a busy day today.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Dry, cloudy, chilly but no frost here this morning.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night beef stew and dumplings, mash, cabbage, carrots, and green beans - the meat was lovely and tender and clean plates all round. Also managed to get 1 extra portion squirrelled away in a freezer tub which is now safely in the freezer for another meal. Tonight HM spare ribs have been requested from the recipe I was given when we went for dinner with friends - so today I just need to buy the ribs, everything else is in the storecupboard.

Wasn't particularly productive yesterday but did get laptop taken to computer shop for little job that needed doing and have it back already! Did lots of washing, drying and ironing - possibly have a couple of loads left - beds need changing too, so will be doing those today. Did some work on the pc and need to put letter in the post this morning. Knowing I've got a week off doesn't help with my motivation at all - but today I am going to try to get more done, shortly I will be heading to town, bank, then food shopping - grocery budget is already blown but will do the best I can - it's payday on Tuesday so next Friday will be the first week of my March month - will start afresh and give it my best shot - have never managed to be within budget - so with this next week off should give myself the best possible chance to plan properly. DH has a caravan meeting tomorrow then he's going on to another caravan meeting in the afternoon so I'm not expecting to see him all day - he'll leave by 7.30am and won't be back until 6pm - good day for me to get stuff done! We're out most of the day on Sunday at another caravan meeting but that's more of a social event so be great to see everyone again, and have a catch up. I have menu planned for Sat night - we will be having chicken stuffed with cream cheese wrapped in bacon, pots and veg - doing this sort of meal because we won't be able to fit a roast in on Sunday, and this is when we're likely to be naughty and order a takeaway, so trying planning to avoid this.

I'll be using some time today and tomorrow to construct a list of jobs I want to get done this next week - 2 I can think of straight away are clean the oven and defrost the outside freezer - both are an absolute must. I will be signing up for flylady next week and at least be trying to complete to level 2 daily - would like to go back to work the following week having fully utilised the week and having major declutters in areas that its needed and the house being in a decent state that we can maintain.

Have a great Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everyone,

Hilstep So glad that you are beginning to feel well.

    Molly and Rosy Hugs.

    Halight Have a lovely evening.

Off to IKEA with DD1 and DD2 today. One of DD2's friends is coming with us as she has never been before and we will all be having meatballs for lunch.

OH is having today off as he has a bad cold.

Had a lovely meal last night at a local pub with 7 friends. The food is great and really cheap and we try to go there about once a month but this is the first time we have managed it since October!
Why is it that when I am going out for the evening I am still expected to cook tea for the rest of the family first?

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning all,

Very cold here today, have put an extra layer on.
Moorhen I'm another one who loves Ikea, I'm planning a trip on Sunday. Dh hates it but I can persuade home every now and again;)

Ds2 was up and out at 4 this morning, he has gone to Brussels for the weekend with 8 mates, I'm sure he will have a good if boozy weekend but shall be glad when he's back.
Dh has gone off to work.
I think I overdid it yesterday, I did quite a lot of driving which I've not done for a while and also wore heels, only small ones but boy am I suffering this morning with my knee. I had planned to pop to the library and have a quick look around the charity shops but unless my knee improves dramatically I don't think I can drive. Roll on the appt with the specialist.
I can get on with some ebaying though, I've already stacked the dishwasher and put a wash on.
    Hillstep glad your feeling better
Tina So sorry to hear your sad news.
Hugs for anyone that needs one, have a good day all x

  • Good morning everyone :)

It's freezing here today but the air is very dry so no frost or ice.

Terrible journey home from work last night, took 3 hours to drive 37 miles so am hoping that is not repeated today.

Plans for the weekend include cutting and colouring my hair, it's currently resembling an old English sheepdog style and with lots of grey! More decluttering of course and painting/decorating a picture frame and mirror frame for DGD's bedroom as part of her birthday gift. Blitz of the bathroom and kitchen with new steam mop, bought at bargain price.

Pork for dinner tonight and I think I have some left over mushrooms and cream to rustle up a nice sauce. Oh must add sorting out the freezer to the weekend list and still haven't bought a freezer pen.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep warm and safe and have a super day :)
