After a bit of advice please!
A few weeks ago had a vegetarian relative staying and I stocked up on some vegetarian bits and pieces. One of the things left over was a packet of Linda Mcartney vegetarian sausages and I slung them in the freezer.
Just got them out this morning, intending to use them in a sausage casserole tonight. However, on the side it it says this product has been previously frozen and is not suitable for home freezing.
I know it is not meat, but I am still not sure if they are ok to use. Also, I would need to freeze portions of the cooked casserole too!
Thanks in advance for any thoughts

I would, just as long as you cook them really thoroughly can't see there would be any problem. Perhaps someone else will come along who knows better0

Were they bought frozen, then defrosted and left unfrozen for a while and then re-frozen? If so, no, I wouldn't.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I think the label says it.
(Maybe next time buy frozen ones...)0 -

Nope they were bought chilled, but the label says they were previously frozen and are therefore not suitable for home freezing. I didn't realise this before slinging them in the freezer!0 -

There won't be a next time as even if this particular vegetarian guest stays again I won't bother buying things that she didn't eat last time
I know what the label says, but...what are the real dangers? They are not meat. Come on, the OS board is full of people who ignore labels0 -
Just to warn you that thy are not much like sausages and are quite fatty. If you have eaten them before fine but do not want you to ruin a lovely casserole.
I have eaten them before after putting them on the freezer. In fact I am forever doing that.January Grocery 11/3740 -

Ew. Neither of us particularly fancy them and I thought disguising them in a casserole might be better than trying to eat them on their own. Maybe I am best abandoning the idea though I hate throwing away food!0 -
If its vegatable based, then yup i just defrost, cook thoroughly and eat!!!! I freeze nearly everything on the day i shop, just because i know it wont go off before it get used.

Can't speak for the ones you've bought, but I often used to buy the Aunt Bessies vegetarian toad in the hole - not that I'm veggie, I think I grabbed it when on offer once and liked the taste of it so would grab them when a deal was on as something a bit different to eat. They didn't taste too much like a sausage but I didn't mind the taste at all.
Could be worth giving them a try - maybe grilled if they're quite fatty? And served alongside lots of stuff with strong flavours of its own. They seem to get good reviews here..

I love linda McCartney sausages and they are not fatty at all . I would be happy to use them in a casserole if they have been frozen .0
