How long will these cakes keep?
I got a load of Tesco choc cake bars very cheap yesterday. They are chocolate cake, buttercream, real chocolate and an icing plaque - I guess I can't freeze them. Will they keep for a while given the cake is covered completely in chocolate?

Pressure cooker recipe using leftover sausages and beans
Just threw a load of ingredients into my pressure cooker and came out with a lovely sausage stew for very little money. Ingredients: 2 tins of tomatoes 1 tin of flageolet beans drained(any beans would do) Good two splashes (maybe 2 tsp) Worcestershire sauce. A level tsp salt (I used sea salt) 1 tbsp sugar Chilli flakes…

Cast iron fireplace
Hi, I have a black cast iron fireplace that I have to admit I have neglected for quite a while (except for dusting). I have noticed that it is starting to look a bit shabby and I would like to clean it up, but I have no idea what to use. Could anyone one help me please.

What are those pan lid things called and do you still get them?
I remember my Gran having a smallish mitt type thing (smaller than the mitt on an oven glove) that seemed to be made out of something that looked to me like thick string all stuck together, that she used to hold the hot metal handles on her pots and pans. I'm sure it wasn't string, lol...but from a child's perspective,…

How to make a quilt, what size etc!
Sorry I did do a search but couldn't find what I was looking for! Now it's getting colder I was thinking about making some quilts for the children's beds. I seem to have far too much linen so I was going to chop some that I'm not really bothered about up and make it into some patchwork quilts. However I just can't bring…

Cheapest Marg for Baking
Hi, I'm finding the cost of margarine is hitting us quite hard at the moment and it's putting me off baking. I really hate the value spread for sandwiches so use the Asda own brand above that. It isn't butter but I can eat it without gagging. I want to do more baking and pastry dishes from leftovers but I know when I made…

homemade "cook in paste"
I used to buy Knorr "Stir it Up" jar of paste that you used cold to coat chicken and then cooked in pan. They have discontinued it and hubby and I are distraught because it was so yummy. Anyway thought I might have a go at making my own. We really liked the Italian tomato and herb variety so do you think I should use…
