Does being OS get you down?
I was doing some ironing this morning and Iwas pondering ways to get an extra meal out of some mince (inspired by previous threads) and then I started wondering if anyone begrudges being OS. I mean do you get pleasure from being OS or do you find it hard work because you have no choice and couldn't survive otherwise. I ask…

Washing bed linen-temperatures?
Hello OSers, Some advice would be great.... I have plain white cotton bed linen, and change and wash it weekly. The temperature on the labels is 40 C, and I have always washed it either at that or occasionally (if I have been away a lot that week) at 30 C. Now the sun is shining a bit more, I have noticed that it is…

ideas for canapes?
I am catering for my mum-in-law's surprise 60th birthday. There will be 15 guests and I would love to do something a little different than sandwiches, sausage rolls etc. It needs to be fairly quick and simple to make, am happy to make beforehand and then cook on the day. Mainly savoury snacks needed as I will be doing a…

Feeling Crabby. Why doesn't tinned tuna contain Omega 3?
 Just read something today, from a source I don't particularly trust, which said Don't rely on tinned tuna for omega-3 fats as canning destroys almost all of them. Is this true?

How to cook with powdered formula milk?
Just a quick question as I'm off to bed in a second. Can you just sprinkle the powder in to whatever you're making and add hot water or does it need to be measured out? (I've never used formula before.) He's 14 months old and it's SMA progress (because that's all they had.) Don't know if that makes any difference. Thanks.…

Worth making own flapjacks and yoghurt
Hi, My kids get through a ton of yoghurts and flapjacks (alright, I help with the flapjacks :p ). Would it be much cheaper for me to make my own? I've tried a flapjack recipe before but it was 'crunchy' rather than 'squidy'. Does anyone have a good squidy flapjack recipe I could have? Be gentle, I'm a rubbish baker. Also,…
