Hi, probably being a bit lazy here, but I always seem to be short of time. A friend had mentioned that she had seen ready made frozen jacket potatoes that you just microwave, but it was in a cash and carry shop. Does anyone know of anywhere that sells these that isn't a cash and carry shop?
Thanks

I'm sure i've seen ready filled ones in Asda.....but why would you want them?
I cook spare ones in the oven and then freeze for OH to eat in his pack up...I take out the freezer the night before to defrost and he just reheats in the microwave at work.0 -
Oh dear. I have seen these but I don't want to tell you where - I'm saving you from yourself!
I can't be that mean really - I've seen them in Iceland but have never been tempted.
Why is this in the OS board? You must know you're going to get slated. But hopefully others will be more constructively helpful than me

surely to do a jacket potatoe it only takes a few mins in the microwave anyway.
It might take a few mins more than a ready made/prepared frozen one. But cant you just put it in a few mins earlier than you wanted it.
I came into this world with nothing and I'm gonna leave with nothing.0 -
About 8 minutes in an 800W oven followed by 30 mins at Gas Mark 6/200 deg C is a decent compromise between a crispy jacket and quick cooking time, in my experience.0

This is what I do - but do lots! Freeze what you don't eat for another day. This is a good one to do when you have the oven on for something else and need to fill it up.0 -
Also Tesco have value jackets for 24p per kg ATM. Makes it really cheap for 4 or 5 potatoes and you could preprepare loads of them.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0

Morrison's sell 4 "half" cheese and onion filled jacket potatoes in the vegetarian part of their freezer section. Think they are around £1.

I have frozen hm jacket potatoes a couple of times, but have always found that they don't reheat very well - the inside is always all rubbery. Does anyone else find this or am I doing something wrong? In fact whenever I freeze any kind of cooked potato, except mash, it always tastes yucky when reheated.Jane

It had never occurred to me to freeze pre-cooked jacket spuds. Good tip, thanks :T I tend to just microwave them and finish off in the oven, for camping I part boil the spuds, wrap them in foil and finish them in the BBQ.Piglet
