Seeking advice on Tesco bargains
Hi there I will be driving past a Tesco's tomorrow so plan to do my weekly shop there. I haven't been to a tesco for years (none near me) so I don't know what the bargains are. I'd be very grateful for tips on cheap stuff to buy for family meals, school lunches and even Christmas presents. Thanks for any help you can give.…

Chicken Skins...
Sorry if this is a silly question... :o I usually buy chicken breasts but have started to see the error of my ways! :D Now I couldn't quite stretch to a whole chicken so as a compromise I bought some chicken thighs and drumsticks (free range), which we don't usually eat but was sooooo much cheaper than the breasts. Now DH…

Choosing beef cut for Christmas lunch?
Hi We are going to have organic beef for Christmas dinner, please can you advise which cut is least likely to be tough topside or sirloin? If I roast beef it always turns out tough as old boots so I will probably put it in the slow cooker. thanks :)

Veg boxes in Kent
I know it's not strictly OS but I'm hoping to get into a better routine with my veg and the like so I can have less waste. So I came up with the bright idea of having a veg box delivered bi-weekly but I'm having a problem finding somewhere that delivers to me. I was hoping *crosses fingers* that someone lives in the same…

Easy meals to reheat?
DD has asked for recipes she can cook on Sunday and reheat during the week. She's done the usual, chilli, stew, spag bol etc but would like other ideas. She doesn't have a microwave and doesn't have a lot of time to cook when she gets home from work. She'd welcome any ideas, especially if they are listed in the recipe…

OS firelighters
Thanks to a tip from this board (sorry, can't remember who) I have tried this - stuff shredded paper tightly into cardboard loo roll tubes and use to help light the fire. It works really well, lay a few tubes on top of some lightly scrunched newspaper, put some kindling on top, then coal. As the tube of shredded paper…

Use it up! Don't throw it in the bin!
Just thinking today that it might be a good idea to have a thread where we could list all our triumphs over the leftovers. It could be like a diary with us listing what we have used each day. I know many of you do this already but I find I am still learning new ways of doing things and with every meal I make, that includes…
