Best electric foodmixer/whisk?
I broke the whisk attachment for my kenwood food mixer yesterday because it was a stiff mixture. I'm looking for a decent tool that will do the job. I just want it for general baking as I've a breadmaker arriving any day now (hopefully...) Anyway, I'm a bit baffled by the options. It has to be hand held and easy to clean.…

Can't believe the "food" you can buy now
 As I'm not a buyer of ready made meals and frozen food (apart from veg - oh and ice cream :D ) please excuse me if you think this is a completely daft thing to post, but I cannot believe the complete pap the shops sell and pass off as proper food. I can't abide their "cardboard" meals (serves 2 - 2 what? Goldfish?)…

So now i've got the coriander seed.....
What do I do next? Following great advice about getting my plants cheap on the reduced to clear section of the supermarket, I bagged myself a lovely coriander plant earlier in the year. I pulled off the seeds and microwaved them for 30 secs to remove any bugs or whatever and i've had them in the airing cupboard for about a…

Craft Fairs
Afternoon all :hello: Can one of you clever people tell me how I can find out where Craft Fairs are being held in my region? I have done web searches but only seem to find a few listed (plus sites that I have to pay to subscribe to, to get the info). I keep an eye on the local papers and have checked various craft…

Budget Weekly Meal Planner
Is there such a thing on this site as a budget meal planner of the weeks meals and recipes for making each meal from scratch? I've looked but I can't see one. If not does anyone know where I could find one on the net? Thanks

What to do with cardamom?
A friend gave me a big bag of cardamon ages ago and it has been floating around my kitchen cupboards ever since, (my belief in the principle that if you kick something around enough it eventually gets lost has failed this time!). I really must use it up somehow but haven't a clue what to do with it. It's the stuff in pods…

To BM or not to BM?
I made my own bread for the first time this week and it tastes stunning. :D I don’t have a breadmaker, but it was still incredibly easy. I used the recipe on the side of the (wholemeal) bread flour packet and the whole thing took about 10 minutes of my time. The bread was ready about 90 minutes after starting. I’m sure…

Walnuts
This is my first time using this site, so I hope that I'm posting in the right place. Can anybody out there tell me how to keep walnuts. We're lucky enough to have two trees in the garden, but each year I end up throwing loads away as they go mouldy. There are only so many ways to use them in cooking. Any advice would be…

Can you help me, help my daughter....
.....to pass her GCSE Home Economics practical? She needs a menu. It has to be a three course meal that would be a nutritious for a mum-to-be. Obviously it needs to be high in protien, carbs, vitamins and minerals. My daughter's ideas: Starter: Minestrone soup a la Delia (personally I feel this is a bit heavy as a starter,…

apples storage
i am luck enough to have loads of apples growing, both cookers and eaters, and of superb quality and taste, and it seems a shame to let them drop off and rot. i have been stewing apples for the past couple of days and freezing them for pies in the winter,(plenty of space in my brand new freezer), nearly every one of my…

Baked beans/haricot beans.
I think I remember some genius on here saying that if you rinsed off the tomato sauce you get plain haricot beans. Can anyone confirm this? I was in Waitrose tonight (flying visit) and I needed a tin of haricot beans, but the only ones they had were organic at 79p when I remembered something about this. Thanx :)

Cheryl, who spends 15 hours a day cleaning.
This is from the Radio Times description of tonight's Wife Swap: "..Cheryl, who spends 15 hours a day cleaning, switches places with Bess, leader of a motorbike chapter." 15 hours a day! Sounds a bit obssesive compulsive to me. Can't imagine what you would be doing either - unless you live in a 10 bedroomed castle/ mansion…

Silicon Bakeware
I just noticed that ALDI has some really cheap Silicon Bakeware coming on sale on Thursday :D Do any of you use it and is it any good, are there any downsides to it. I am asking because I'm more of a Le Creuset type of guy but everything is packed away for a house move and i need to get some cooking done. Thanks in advance

Hi all, Can anyone tell me if you can make chips and then freeze? My OH is obsessed with chips for nearly every meal, and whilst I am trying to wean him off, I am a bit partial too  ! I was thinking of part cooking (in the fryer??) then freezing and just popping in the fryer for five minutes or so to finish them…

MILK & YOGURT - CAN I GET IT CHEAPER???
Hi All, Just a quickie, my kids get through about 50 pints a weeks of milk and about 24 pots of fromage frais  . Can I get it cheaper than tesco? I'm from NZ and we get milk powder there, similar to what you give a ababy but in full fat and semi skim types. Lots of mums there use it as it is LOADS cheaper. I havent…
