Is Old Style a Rose Tinted World?
Hello All I have a small confession to make....I don't "sell" old style to all & sundary:eek: . I'm actually quite picky who I talk to about the old style way of living & even more picky who I talk to about this forum (apart for anything else I post some personal stuff on here & wouldn't necessarily want someone I know…

Announcement
Hi all ;) I haven't actually changed the layout of the collections sticky and indexes as yet but I thought I'd let you know that there's more than one way to navigate them. All of the Recipe Indexes are kept in a single thread. The various menu's allow readers to step to the particular index (such as Old Style >> Sweets)…

Pongy Shoes
I need some help! I have a pair of suede mules, which I think are also suede lined. I've had them for a couple of years, and frankly, they stink! Apart from the smell they are in really good condition and I don't want to have to chuck them out. Anyone have any foolproof money saving tips for getting rid of the pong? TIA.…

white wine recommendations please.
I would like to take a nice bottle of white wine to my friends party on Friday, and i would dearly love to be able to give them a lovely sweet bottle of white wine, but when-ever we buy a bottle it tastes bitter, and have yet to find a nice one. Latest advice is to keep away from anything French, and plump for either South…

Getting a ring off my finger - help it' s stuck!
Any ideas? I always always always take my rings off before I go to bed, as I have excema and scratch my hands in my sleep... which makes them swell. So I now have my eternity ring stuck on my finger above my engagement ring (which isn't stuck) As I don't want to have it cut off and then have to pay to have it put back…

yogurt
My friend's mum puts organic plain yogurt on her face every morning, lets it dry in for a few mins then washes off with warm water - she never never uses soap or anything else and her skin is amazing, she's nearly 60! Of course she also eats a daily portion with fresh fruit(organic)

Another use for you kitchen tap
Yes there is, really. You may have seen stainless steel soap on sale to remove onion and garlic smells from your hands - well providing you are on your own, run your hands lovingly up and down you tap and it does the same job. Honest!

Making pastry
Just don't seem able to get it right - either to dry or too wet - usually too dry. I add as much water as the recipes state, but it never seems to be enough, but if I add more it then seems to be too much even though I have only added a few drops. Where am I going wrong? Is there a foolproof method. It is annoying because…

Fathers day gifts
Just realised it's Fathers Day on Sunday  in true old style I guess everyone is really organised and has made/ encouraged the kids to make gifts. So, What have you made for your Dad/OH? My idea is to make my Dad a big mixture of cookies. Edit: Me and Rebob cross-posted so I'm merging mine with hers.

Well I never knew that!
Organising my cookbooks today I came across one for my food processor (magimix) which I had never really openend.... and flicking through it found out that I could make my own cream in it, either single or whipping. If I had a pound for the number of times I wished I'd had cream for a recipe...... well I would be quite…

May we discuss Quilting?
Following on from the daily "what's going on" last week, I was set a challenge to get started on some quilting. I sorted through my needlework box and I found: - 4 squares of fabric, from 4" x 5" to 5" x 6", each with a border and a farm animal or 2 in the centre - a bag of wadding - various packets of ordinary sewing…
