Job Cuts - anyone worried ?
Why is it that schools/boards/DE will make their ancillary staff redundant before teachers ? A teacher's salary is at least TWICE that of ancillary staff, so in theory you would have to make at least TWO members of support staff redundant as opposed to one teacher ? And ESA (which was supposed to do away with the 5 boards,…

Jewellery valuation - possibly antique gold bracelet
I found a gold bracelet many years ago that I handed in to the police but got back because it was never claimed. The safety chain is broken and I never wear it so I was going to sell it as scrap gold. I checked the hallmarks and, as far as I can tell, it could be quite old. I would like to get it valued with a view to…

Shellac nail varnish removal
I got my nails done with Shellac nail varnish and the salon told me (after I'd had it done) that they charge £10 to get it removed. Yikes! Is there anywhere is the centre or east Belfast that would remove it for less without wrecking my nails? The OH jokingly suggested using a blow torch!!

Gardiner Brothers jewellers
Has anyone ever bought rings from Gardiner's? I've been looking at eternity rings and saw a nice one in Lunn's but a previous thread on the Forum made me a bit wary. I wondered what Gardiner's were like in comparison in terms of quality and value. I was told that the ring I was looking at in Lunn's is sourced locally and…

Can anyone recommend a good optician?
I've been at the same optician for a few years - I need annual tests as I have a close relative with Glaucoma and I wear glasses.
