How much do you get to scrap a vehicle?
I'm getting rid of my 125cc bike later on this year, I'll finish paying it off in 2 months, I'll do my test then I'll scrap. How much do you get for scrap these days? Is it better to private sell? It's not in great nick. It's running fine, but it'll fail it's MOT due to the structure damage at the back (due to the shop…

Impeded his vision
Police said Longsmith was seen wearing the mask - which would have impeded his vision. When I visited the opticians they said that I was borderline in need of driving glasses, at the time I thought they just wanted to make money. If I can read a number plate at 20.5 metres, is that the only test?…

New catalytic converter - only main dealer can supply and fit
I'm not even sure what I'm asking for here, maybe what *you* would do in my position? I have a 10 year old Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback which has been faultless for many years. Over the weekend it started to sound like the exhaust was blowing, along with a metallic rattling sound. I had it checked out today and there is a…

Absolutely not my fault!
I turned right into a narrow road, it starts as a really narrow lane, then it widens very slightly, then it’s normal. It’s the village of Ripley in Surrey, the right turn towards Woking by the kitchen shop. Anyway I turned there and as I turned a van was coming, rather than hold back a couple of foot so we could pass after…

Voluntary Termination - PCP
I have recently requested to VT a PCP as my circumstances changed. At the point of request I had paid 50% of the total amount payable plus 1 instalment. The car was collected and I have received a request to pay £737. £606 in "excess mileage" and the remainder for a small amount of damage. I called them today and asked…

GAP Insurance - Do We Need it?
We are buying SWMBO a new car ... Model can be advised if necessary but is probably irrelevant for the purposes of this question. Car purchase will be funded by £300 trade in (57 plate old car), a nominal sum on credit card (for S75 protection) and the balance by bank transfer ... no credit arrangement involved (other than…

Road tax and PCP
Hi all My girlfriend took out a PCP with Mini in February 2018, and Mini paid the road tax for the year as part of the deal. The contract she signed said that Mini would remain the registered owner, but she would become the registered keeper. We realised recently that we'd forgotten to renew our tax, so set about doing it…

Audi S3 or BMW 330i
We're after a 2nd car, and deciding between the 2. I know this is a money saving forum etc etc, but i dont really want a 1.0 3 cylinder eco car, just my preference. Anyone got experience of either car, and any issues with them? Was looking at around a 2008 S3, and similar age 330i m sport (probably a saloon) Thanks in…

Question about sending a VT and notifying the companies involved.
Hi All, If a Car was bought on PCP from a company called Marmalade but the finance agreement is with Barclays. Am I correct in saying that the VT is sent to Barclays only. Marmalade has nothing to do with the VT or anything that happens after?

Selling a car currently on PCP for a friend
I have a friend that I totally trust with everything...except money. He's blown an absolute fortune, relative to what I consider a lot of money, and is blinded by big-money schemes. People around him have tried to help after receiving multiple guarantees of repayment only to have been ignored and avoided once deadlines…

Road Tax Robbery
Using the DVLA website to apply for road tax, it's worked a treat in the past. Wonderful bit of money making as I could not get my road tax for today paid on eleven tries last evening, but today, road tax has increased by £10, and it was accepted straight away, must have made millions. Blatant money making.
