Road tax and PCP
Hi all
My girlfriend took out a PCP with Mini in February 2018, and Mini paid the road tax for the year as part of the deal. The contract she signed said that Mini would remain the registered owner, but she would become the registered keeper.
We realised recently that we'd forgotten to renew our tax, so set about doing it last week. However, we don't have the V5C logbook - nor do we recall ever getting it from Mini (we have every other bit of documentation in a ring binder from the sale). We also didn't receive a V11 reminder through the post from the DVLA, nor have we received a last chance letter. I'm inclined to believe that either Mini omitted to make my girlfriend the registered keeper, or something's gone wrong at the DVLA. But as it stands, we're unable to pay our tax online as we don't have the right documentation, and we'd have to complete a V62 form to get a new logbook in order to do so - which will cost us £25.
My question, I suppose, is: should Mini have sent us the V5C? And is the DVLA not sending a V11 common, or is it indicative that my girlfriend hasn't been made the registered keeper of the car?
Thanks

I'm assuming this is a new car?
It's your responsibility from the get go to ensure you're the registered keeper. Your girlfriend should've contacted the DVLA within a weeks of getting the car if she hadn't received the V5 from them. She'll need to contact them now and chase this up. Has she had a change of address at all since she got the car.
