Halfords impounding car
Hi, Posting for a friend - Only a week after passing an MOT, a friend went to Halfords for the winter car check. They told her that her brake pads were so worn they wouldn't let her drive away, then charged her nearly 200 pounds for new brake pads. Surely Halfords don't have the authority to impound a car - I think she has…

MOT - Rear and front windscreen wash reversed
Hi everyone, the switch has gone on my front windscreen wash so I just reversed it (since my rear wiper doesn't work anyway) - will this pass my MOT? The front wash now works using the rear switch and the rear wash doesn't work at all.

My car is a write-off, but will they take this into account?
In the recent high winds, my car was written off by an errant council wheelie bin (the large metal ones) and they have now handed my claim to their insurers (Zurich, for what it's worth). It wasn't an expensive car, only worth about £1500 market value, but I had nearly £800 worth of work done to it last month (with…
