New secondhand car

Hi,
Just after some advice. I recently purchased a second hand car from a main dealer 250 odd miles away. I paid a deposit of £500 to secure the car & travelled down to view it, which I was all happy with it on the day, paid another £1000 towards the car & financed the rest.
I've had the car 4 days now & I'm really not all that happy with it, it demolishes fuel (despite being a diesel & driving on the motorways with CC set at 73). It appears to feel lazy too, no real grunt / power to it, I'm convinced it has a boost leak, based on looking at common issues & the sound it makes.
I've messaged the dealer about returning it but just wondering if I have any right to return it or can they tell me to do one?
I understand I'd lose some money, if not all my money, due to them preparing it and whatnot but I'd like to know if I've got somewhere to stand with giving it back.
Many thanks

The crystal ball needs more info. age, car, mileage, engine, manual/ auto?'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
Apologies. It's a Titanium X sport Mondeo 2.2 TDCI, 2012 Manual with FSH. 78K on it.0

Is it still under warranty? I think Ford has extended 5-year warranties which you can buy. If it has that then you will probably be in a better position to return it, if the issue is an actual problem.
As for power and poor economy I don't think you have to return it based on being unhappy.
How can you say it has a poor fuel economy after just 4 days of use? Wouldn't you need to fill up a tank and empty it first? Or are you just going based on the arbitrary numbers the computer tells you.0 -

Four days use for me is quite often over 800-1000 miles of mixed driving, more than enough to assess consumption. I'm sure I'm not the only one.0 -

How close is it to the advertised 42mpg?0 -
Oh sorry. If you've driven 1000 miles fair enough. 4 weekdays for me would be like 60 miles.

I'm not the OP. I'm just pointing out that the OP may also do considerable mileage. I've not owned a car that'll do anywhere near 42mpg for about four years! I'm happy with 22.0 -
I've done roughly 800 miles in it so far.
It's the power more than anything that is concerning, 4th, 5th & 6th are gutless, with the rest not providing all that much of a grunt for a car with 200ps & 450nm of torque. Overtaking on a motorway with my foot flat feels like the old days of driving a 1.3 Fiesta.
I've been driving a 2.0 TDCI 140HP Mondeo for nearly 2 years, albeit remapped to 165HP, the grunt in that was decent & could quite easily put the 2.2 to shame.
Anyway, I've booked it in to my local dealer to have a look at tomorrow. If they find a fault & fix it, great. However, if they say they can't find a fault, then I wouldn't be happy keeping such a gutless car.0
