I managed to slightly scrape the back panel of a jag while parking the other day - no one in other car at the time. Owner reckons looking at £800 - £1,000 to have panel replaced. Currently have 9 years no claims with Direct Line (unprotected unfortunately). My question is does anyone have any idea what my premiums are…

Insurance company offering a write-off valuation too low! Help?!
I wrote the car off - my fault - no disputes. The car was on finance and our GAP Insurers have said that the valuation offered by our insurance company is much too low. They originally offered £6100, which we disputed and they adjusted the valuation to £7200. The GAP insurers are saying this is still too low as the GLASS's…

True mpg of a Ford C-Max 1.6 tdci
Can anyone give me an idea of the true mpg I'd be likely to get out of a Ford C-Max 1.6tdci please? Is it far out from the official figures which have been published? Its main use would be as a main family car and commuting to and from work which the journey is mainly on motorways, 40 miles each way.

Non fault claim
Hi, Around 2 weeks ago, someone bumped into my car whilst I was waiting to enter at a roundabout. My car's bumper and boot are damaged, and the garage said it would cost around £1500 to repair. My insurance, Lloyds, has informed me that as this was a non fault claim, my excess would be recovered, but I still have to pay it…

Hi Everyone My husband was involved in a car accident over a year ago. It was reported to his insurance company and they said it was likely that it would be considered his fault. He accepted this. There was no damage to his car and it was left to the insurance company to deal with. A few months ago he had a letter from…

Wheel Balancing...fair price?
Just phoned my local garage to get a price to have the wheels on my 1999 BMW 520i balanced and they've quoted £8+vat per wheel. Never having had this done as a stand alone job before, is this a fair cost? They asked how many wheels I wanted doing and as I've only just bought the car, I said I might as well have them all…

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Jodqlfu-sI The above is a video of my car, 2007 Kia Carrens. I absolutely love it. Anyway for about two weeks it's been making this noise, it speeds up when I accelerate. Anyone have any idea what this could be? I'm thinking a loose belt, if it's the case then I can easily fix it as I have…

VED ('road tax') on my part exchange
Hello I am selling my car to a dealer as a part exchange on a new one. When I taxed the car I am trading in, I did it under the old system. So my question is, now that we have the new tax-disc-less system, would I automatically get a refund from the DVLA? Or do I need to apply for it? Or would my tax be transferrable to…

Cheaper petrol at Costco
Petrol prices are always cheaper at Costco branches with a petrol station. In Liverpool now it's 99.9p a litre which is about 5p less than the cheapest petrol elsewhere. You do have to pay to be a Costco member but the savings are worth it over a year and you have the benefit of shopping in Costco too.

driving without seatbelt fpn
I got done for driving without seatbelt fpn. I dont know why I accepted it, it was 9pm at night. the cabin of cars is pitch black and you'd need night vision to see if someone is wearing seat belt or not. I do put seatbelt on autopilot, and take it off when I park up. It's autopilot and I don't even consciously think about…

Claim for replacement car from other insurer
Hello all Unfortunately I was rear ended on the way to work this morning. Traffic stopped on a trunk road, the driver behind me had the sun in his eyes and didn't brake until far too late. Annoying, but worse things happen at sea! I don't have courtesy car cover on my policy as we have a second family car and historically…
