Car Service - Who do I trust?
I have a Peugeot 307 cc which has done just over 20k miles. I was wanting to book the car in for a service and wasn't sure whether to take it to a small local garage or a Peugeot retailer. Previously I have had company cars so I have not had this problem before. Over the weekend I decided that I would be safest going to a…

Gear Box Failure - Should I Complain?
I bought a 12 month old Vauxhall Astra 1.9TDCi in December 2006 from a well respected 2nd hand dealer in Cheshire for around £11,000. I do a reasonable amount of mileage both to and from work and as part of my job (approximately 15,000-20,000 miles per year) so I wanted something reliable, with the Astra rated highly in…

tax disc envelope arrived already opened
Just curious and checking to see if there are known scams with this. My tax disc arrived after ordering online. It turned up a little late and the envelope had been opened and taped back up with a note that it had been delivered to the wrong address and opened by mistake. Now I'm reasonably happy it was a genuine mistake…

Tap or de-ionised/distilled water?
Which is actually best in an engine? Is there any difference? I know that tap is free, but de-ionised/distilled isn't that expensive. I rely on my car and don't want to "spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar".

Air Conditioning
Yes Air Conditioning. Too cold to think about it now. BUT Do you realise, that a lot of vehicle air con engineers tend to have good deals, early in the year, also at the end. Substantial savings over the normal cost. Most people, and hence most business, for vehicle A/C engineers, is in warm weather, Logical, really, you…

Taxi Fares - Is it time for them to be restructured?
In the past most people did not work on a Sunday or Bank Holidays. Also some of those that did work on a Bank Holiday got a premium for doing so. Taxi fares still seem to be structured in this way, as an example a fare on Good Friday was £10.20 when normally it would have been £7.20. Given that lots of businesses now…

17 yr olds...learn to drive now or wait?
Hello. First time on this board....not sure if the question is more insurance related but interested in your thoughts... My 17yr old twins (boy/girl) have about £1000 each put aside towards the cost of learning to drive. They've both decided NOT not to start lessons as they feel they can't afford lessons and to buy and…
