tax disc envelope arrived already opened
Just curious and checking to see if there are known scams with this.
My tax disc arrived after ordering online. It turned up a little late and the envelope had been opened and taped back up with a note that it had been delivered to the wrong address and opened by mistake.
Now I'm reasonably happy it was a genuine mistake and the wrong recipient has been honest and done me a favour by redelivering rather than just binning it, but what are the risks if someone dishonest gets hold of your tax disc? I have the original, but someone could have made a copy. Okay that's their issue, but is it possible for them to try and get a refund and thus cancel the disc? The refund would surely only go to the registered keeper anyway and DVLA would spot the copy.
Can't really see an issue. Just want to put my mind at rest that I'm not going to suddenly get a fine for an untaxed car and having to fight with the DVLA or something like that.

Don't worry about it - they're very hard to copy anyway (I scanned mine to send a photocopy to a private plate supplier - it's very distorted when scanned)
As you say - any refund would go to the registered keeper, etc.0 -
Could try ringing the DVLA and asking for advice - yes this was probably all an honest mistake but perhaps getting in touch with them would give you peace of mind. Perhaps send the disc back and get a new one issued just to be sure.0

Sounds like a genuine mistake - if it was a scan then they would probably have just binned it rather than send it on, but still might be worth a quick call to DVLA0
