I don't drive but I have a car insurance question. Our daughter is due to find cheaper car insurance via confused.com. She is in the forces and her car is parked with her on the base for most of each month. Every other weekend or thereabouts she is home. She tells me that if she uses her base as her home address, the…

Service and free MOT deals.. worth it?
Our local kwikfit is advertising a free MOT when you spend £99 on a service. My mot isn't due until september but the service would be due at the same time and was considering doing this deal but part of me can't help but be cynical thinking there's a catch? Anyone know whether it's a good deal or not?

Car cleaning MSE styleee?
Ok here's the jist. I'm huuuugely pregnant, lazy and on a tight budget.. lol. What's the cheapest, easiest and best way to get my car looking fantastic inside and out.. including the alloys? I begrudge paying £5 to run it through the car wash but we don't have an external water tap to be able to hose it down afterwards. I…

Oyster question
I have been using Oyster this week. I have noticed that it takes £4 at the start of the journey and then credits £2.5 at the end - so a single tube journey costs £1.50. Does this mean I always need at least £4 on my card even if I'm doing a £1.5 trip? I would guess it does but I can't find the answer anywhere.

My new car came with a three year warranty that runs out next month - I've decided to keep it for another year. Does anyone sell a parts/labour warranty policy? (Thought I read about them once.) And, if such a thing is available, does anyone recommend them?

I need a 'runaround' car. I am looking at a V reg (2000) Kia Pride with 26000 miles on the clock, one owner from new, asking price £650. Parkers suggests £725 for good cond vehicle. Any comments would be gratefully received? Ideas about any things in particular I should look for would also be appreciated... Thanks annie :)

Trying to find Tyre tread rules
The written rule is easy enough to fiind, but what about pictures of tyres that are legal and tyres that are not. A picture says a 1000 words. And if I had a digital camera I'd give you guys a picture. My spare wheel has the three central grooves easily at least 3mm deep and the TWI are there below the surface. But it's…

advice re engine problem / MOT
Hi My car is a P-reg Vauxhall Astra. My parents bought it in 1998 (it had previously been a fleet car I think) and I bought it from them in 2004. So it has a FSH, its been looked after well and has a lowish mileage for its age of about 65,000. Now I live in London and tbh could manage without it, but it is useful to have…
