Awful credit, low mortgage, any chance??
Hi guys! So, for reasons that are totally my fault I have really bad credit rating.... it's in the poor category which stem from uni days but my defaults and CCJs won't drop off for another year or two. (ccj's for under 2k due to a failed business and all paid off) I'm really keen to get on the housing ladder due to some…

YBS application submitted. :-)
As previously detailed in previous threads we went through the bankruptcy process in 2009, anyway after being used to disappointment I'm pleased to say we had a DIP with YBS and submitted a full application yesterday. Fingers crossed! I keep hearing that it's unusual for the application not to go through unless we've not…

Right to Buy - A Question
Hi guys, My issue is a bit of confusing one. The situation is this: My dear ol' Mum is getting on in years and her health isn't particularly great (smoking), but we expect she's got a few more years in her. She is also incredibly house proud, she lives in a 3 bedroom terraced council house, that throughout the years she's…

Advice on overpayments & timing? Bank of Ireland
I intend to start overpaying my mortgage and would like some advice on how best to time it so that I maximise the savings. Regular overpayments are made by standing order and the amount owed and interest I need to pay is calculated monthly on the 1st of the month after the month in which the overpayment is made, my current…

Mortgage Application Interview- Halifax
Have an interview booked in 3 weeks and have just started to think about questions we may have to answer and info to bring with us. Will the Halifax Mortgage Advisor ask about our total savings held in every account we have? or just the accounts from where the deposit will come from? I realise we will have to have info on…

re-mortgaging and releasing equity
Hi, I'm in the position where I'd like to release some equity from my flat - currently I have over 50% equity (thanks London price rises). The query I've got is how easy is it to re-mortgage and say take 40 or 50k or so out at the same time... if I try to do so with my current provider then they'll create a separate loan…

valuation surverys
Hello I'm in the process of buying my first house and have had AIP. I have been informed that the valuation survey took place yesterday. Does this mean that we have 'passed' the affordability and credit checks, if they have gone as far as to carry out the valuation survey. Thanks

Recent Valuations in London
Does anyone have any recent experience of surveyors doing London valuation of property? Last house on my road sold for 600k in Nov 2014 and another for 510k in Jul 2014, but surveyor Connels have come back with a 350k valuation. Is this happening to anyone else? Are surveyors being more cautious?

I need some advice, I’m a shared home owner and the time has come for me to try to staircase to buy my property outright. I say buy it outright because the housing association rent increases yearly, although I’m comfortably paying this alongside my mortgage, I think if I can pay this, I can surely manage the full mortgage…

OK I'm worried now...
I bought my house by myself in just my name in 2013. Put down a good deposit which I saved myself. My partner has been living with me since moving in, paying the equivalent of half of the household outgoings, including mortgage payments, which I think is perfectly fair - he's paying probably less than what he would if he…

End of fixed term and looking to fix again on reduced income
Hi. My fixed rate period has now come to an end and I have seen some much lower rates on offer from my lender if I sign up for another fixed term. Problem is my income has dropped significantly. If I was to ask to fix again with my current lender, would they want to reassess my income, or does that not matter now I am…
