Mis-sold an unwanted re-mortgage deal by Santander - verbal contact binding?
Hi, last Summer I was trying to negotiate an additional lending mortgage agreement with my bank, Santander, so that I could purchase an additional percentage of my shared ownership property. I had a number of hour-long conversations with a mortgage advisor at the bank (it was at the time that the Government tightened…

Works done w/out building regs
Hello, I'm selling a house in which I've put in a new roof window and new patio doors in the dining room. In both cases I was replacing old, single skin versions. I think I needed to get building regulations to do the works - didn't realise at the time. What should I do? Play catch up and declare the works done on a…

sub mortgage
I have 2 parts to my mortgage. Both with RBS, one is on a rate of 1.6 % and the other 3.05% This is called a Sub Mortgage, does anyone know if I can keep the 1.6% with RBS but move the 3.05% to another lender if I can get a better rate ? Or does a Sub Mortgage mean they both have to stay with the same lender ? Thanks

Covenant on field behind my house?
Hi, How do I find out if there is a covenant on the field behind my house? And how long it is 'Live' for? In the deeds? We paid our mortgage off last year. It was with Nationwide. The Land Registry site is only offering a Title Register, Title Plan and Flood Risk Register, which I don't think will contain the info I need.…

Remortgaging, my valuation & the surveyors valuation
Hi all, Just in the process of remortgaging. When I put the application in I valued the property at £205k. I based this on a number of things. We bought the house for £186500, but the property was on the market for £199950. The reason for the lower price was down to there being no central heating in the property (storage…

Re-mortgaging and endowment

Help to buy mortgage rate
I am looking at mortgages to get an idea of rates for help to buy. The rates are not competitive with a 5% deposit. We can put down approx 10% so would this give us a better rate? I can't see any 'help to buy' mortgages at a lower ltv. I will get a broker for this but just considering options at the moment.
