Will opening a new current account make it harder to get mortgage?
Buying a flat is taking longer than expected. It would make sense for me to open a Santandar 123 account to stick my deposit in. I don't want to hurt my credit rating when it comes to getting a mortgage, though. Am I worrying about nothing here?

Let to buy or buy to let
Hi I am hoping to see a broker later on this week but want to have the heads up first, what is the difference between btl and ltb? As I think this is the route I'm heading down. I hope to buy a residential property with my partner and wish to use some of the property's value to fund this. When working out the affordability…

Serious mortgage overpayments
Hi all, We have decided to put our £30k savings down on a £70k house. Leaving us to find a mortgage deal for the remaining £40k over a 5 to 8 year term. We are not looking or wanting any thing more than say a £70k to £75k house. (the extra £5k funded by savings from now to next 2 months) What we do want the ability to do…

settled delinquent account and mortgage
Hi, I have just discovered that I have a current account which is marked as delinquent (settled 05/2012) on my Experian report. We are trying to obtain a mortgage and HSBC conducted a soft search and refused us for this reason. Our broker recommended Halifax (prior to the Experian discovery) which we wanted to try. Does…

Hi I got into arrears with NRAM after becoming unable to work. They agreed to 12 months interest only which is due to end next month but nothing has changed. They will be wanting me to convert back to full payment plus arrears payments and I know I can't manage this. I have made the decision to sell my house and have…

Mortgage advice...
Hi All, I currently have a mortgage on a property I bought about 5 years ago. I moved out to another place to rent with my gf and I now rent out my house to a tenant. I intended to do this for security, so if the relationship didn't work etc I wouldn't have sacrificed my house. Also I don't have much of a pension so I…

Avoiding redemption penalty so we can emigrate?
We stupidly took out a 5 year fixed rate mortgage with Chelsea Building Society 3.5 years ago. The product has a 4% early exit fee which equates to 10k :-( Now the Wife and I have decided that we will be foolish to not make use of our permanent Aussie visa which expires April 2015. Plan is not to sell the house as we are…

Remortgage
Just a question regards remortgage (switching lender) our broker has commented that lenders do not like to see betting transactions on statements. For the record, I gamble only very small, money in usually equates to money out or better. This year as a guide, I have spent just under £500 and recouped just over £600 (so a…

Remortgage - stick with same lender?
Hi, My fianc! and I bought our house 15 months ago for £250000 with a 10% deposit. Our mortgage balance is now £218000 and we're on a Britannia discounted lifetime tracker paying 3.79% (for now at least). There are no early repayment charges and the exit fee is £30. We've inherited £75000 and thought the best investment…

TSB FTB Mortgage £1,000 help with costs
We're first time buyers looking to buy a small house (max £125k) and have a DIP direct from TSB and another lender via a broker. Re: the £1,000 towards costs that TSB offer - does anyone have any experience of this - how/when it is paid etc - is it a set amount or do you have to provide receipts for things (moving van etc)?

chance of getting a mortgage?
Me and my partner recently enquired into a new development in our area, they asked us to be qualified by their preferred mortgage broker before we continued, which we did. They came back to us saying that we could afford the property through help to buy, and provided us with a mortgage promise from Halifax. Because of…

Nationwide BMR and tracker, fix both or one?
After moving house and porting a few times, I've ended up with effectively two mortgages, both with 30 years left with Nationwide: LTV is ~ 73%. One at Nationwide BMR, 2.5% for ~ £70k. Second on a tracker, 3.89% + BOE for ~ £45k. The general consensus seems to be stick with the BMR which is cheaper in the long-term. I can…

Affordability query / Leeds building society
Hi there. Me and my wife have had an offer accepted on a property for 195k. We will be putting 37k down as deposit so would have a mortgage for 158k. We earn 47k basic between us but i can earn quite a bit more with overtime. Does this sound like a sensible lending amount. I've worked it out to be about 26% of our basic…

Realistic Borrowing & Income/Deposit Questions
Hi All, Apologies for the number of questions here, I thought it would be easier to put them all in one post rather than run separate threads. Husband and I are currently renting but hoping to start actively looking to purchase from mid October onwards. This leads me into a few questions; Realistically, what are we likely…
