Right, this is a long and complicated story and I apologise in advance! Mortgage cashback - the conveyance solicitors are asking for it?
We have bought a mortgage that offers cashback incentive. We paid the solicitor's fee on time. Now the solicitors are writing to us, demanding that cashback, in order to complete the work... Has anyone come across this before? Why are they asking for the cashback? It's pennies, compared to what we've already paid but it's…

I have had an offer accepted with my partner. We have been advised to take a 3.09% mortgage with Nationwide by our advisor but my bank, First Direct, have a better deal (2.89%) and having done a bit of research Yorkshire Building Society have a 2.84% mortgage with lower fees and cash back. All are fixed rate 5 year deals…

endownment problem
A couple of years ago the nationwide sent me a letter saying they were unable to pay my endowment policy in full at the end of term, as the market had changed. Anyway I was into 15 years of paying the policy – hence I reckon I was owed £6,000 of a £10,000 agreement projected for 25 years. At the time they paid me about…

Completed Yesterday
Well after 7 months we completed yesterday and picked up the keys. 2 issues with our new build. Our built in wardrobe has not been put in, all there is is a big recess in the bedroom. Our washing machine doesn't fit in the gap, as the kickboard under the cupboards over runs and is slightly longer. 2 things I am sure that…

Hi I am looking to buy a property at auction - I have a AIP from Yorkshire BS for a mortgage on my current property which is mortgage free - the money I raise will pay for the new property outright. claiming for a mis sold endowment
can anyone tell me if there is a way to find out who you had an endowment with back in the 80's . I must have had a good clear out and can't find any paper work from when we had our first 2 properties. Obviously our memories don't go that far back as we just can't think for the life of us who who did our mortgage or who we…

Our daughter has been widowed at a young age, and owns a house outright, but wishes to move near us which is a more expensive area. She will need to raise some money, which she is unlikely to be able to…

Right to buy at 50+
We are 50 and 52. We could buy our Council House with a £75,000 discount. It hasn't been valued yet, but approx. £190,000 to 220,000. We will be retirement age when its paid off, but cant decide if is the right thing to do? Could be a 15 or 20 year mortgage, so will be more expensive than 25 years.
