We received from the solicitors on saturday the mortgage deed and a letter to sign. the only special conditions was'Barclay credit card x2 to be repaid on or before completion ( balance approx £1000 each) ' this has the potential to throw a spanner in the works as this is the first we have heard of…

Will late payments affect a 60% mortgage?
Hello. My partner and I are looking to move house as we are relocating. We have just over a 40% deposit (equity). He has had a mortage for 14 years in total and I came on board 10 years ago when we met. We have 3 dependendents between us (and a step son who stays with us at times). I am not working at the moment (1 year…

Who has the best re-mortgage deal right now? My 2 year 'welcome' rate is expiring at the end of this month. Is it is a good idea to re-mortgage or just to pay the higher repayment fee?

Source of deposit document
Morning all, We had our mortage application with the Skipton accepted last week :) now they've asked us for documents supporting the "source of deposit" - what exactly does this entail? Tried asking someone in their call centre but he wasn't really very clear... I intended to forward screen prints of my savings account to…

Salary 'sacrificed to pension' - what income figure will lenders use?
For tax and benefits reasons I have 'sacrificed' 25% of my gross salary to my pension 'at source', my employer pays into my pension before the salary appears on my payslip so according to my pay slips I now earn 25% less than last year. This is all fully documented. I can switch back to full salary at any time but do not…

Hi there, I will keep this as short as possible and may explain more if necessary to answer my question. My ex girlfriend and I currently have a 50-50 mortgage. Mortgage Initial Appointment ?
Hi everyone, I am wondering if I was to go to an initial meeting at a bank to find out how much money they would be willing to lend me, would they ask me for any paperwork as I wouldn't actually be 'applying' for a mortgage and would essentially just be getting an idea of what I could afford ? And if so what would they be…

FTB Mortgage AIP and old debt
Hi all, My partner and I are trying to buy our first home but we think we've hit a brick wall. Over 7 years ago my partner had defaults placed on some debts he'd racked up as a teenager. The debts are now with a debt management company and are slowly being paid off. The default dropped off early last year as 6 years had…

Hi guys I started my mortgage application last Tuesday and by Thursday I'd provided all of the information they asked me for. Is there any advantages to keeping a small mortgage
We will soon be in a position to be able to pay off in full our mortgage, but I'm sure I'd read somewhere that it was better to keep a small amount on mortgage as it meant the provider kept your deeds for free & it was easier to get another loan in future if you needed it. Can anyone advise if this is the case.

Affordability Question
I've been having a general play with the calculators online today. There seems to be a massive difference between the figure that comes out if you have childcare to pay for. So I take it as a general rule it's best to wait until kids are in school? Only 2 years away anyway when we were actually looking to buy :D
