Is this complicated or simple?
Scenario: Mother is the sole proprietor of her home. The land registry records her as the sole person named on the freehold title deed. The land registry also records her mortgage provider, HBOS T/A Birming Midshires, as having a charge against the property. There are no names of any 3rd parties anywhere on the land…

Starting to get really annoyed
I moved of the home me and my ex shared almost 2 years ago. I'm desperate to get my name off the mortgage but the bank are telling my ex she 'can't afford the payments on her own', even though she has been paying them herself for 2 years. Does anybody know of anything I can do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bulb

Rights to convert from repayment to interest only?
I want to convert my mortgage and my lender is refusing my request on the grounds of my £3K arrears. The conversion will significantly reduce my monthly payments, enabling the arrears to be cleared quicker. What is my legal position? Do I have any rights? Thanks very much Carleea

Huge Discrepancy on Halifax Index Linked House Valuation Reducing LTV
I'm looking into the options around our current mortgage deal to decide if we should change products or possibly downsize the house it's self. As part of the process, I contacted Halifax for the current index linked valuation and was shocked when they informed me that the house's value according to them is £274,000. That's…

Opinion on ditching fix
I have a "hypothetical" scenario I would like peoples opinions on. Nov 1st outstanding balance 123k @ 6.29% fixed for another 2 years. Keep paying this until fixed rate is up. Can overpay 10% per year. OR Nov 1st outstanding balance 123k ERC of 2% which is ~2400. Switch to HSBC 80% LTV tracker at BoE + 2.49%. No fees. Can…

Add mortgage arrangement fee to mortgage?
I know this is normaly a no brainer, but if faced with 2 mortgage deals (over 2 yrs): 1.79 % above base, £199 fee, or; 1.49 % above base, £995 fee then according to the mortgage calc on this site, adding the fee to the mortgage of the 1.49% deal still seems to be the better option. Is there something I am not considering…

Switch to fixed rate?
We all know that the BoE base rate won’t stay at 0.5% forever, and that even if it somehow does stay there for ages, lenders’ SVRs may well creep up anyway. What I’m trying to figure out is whether this increase is likely to happen soon enough to make a two-year fixed rate mortgage a better bet than the current SVR we’re…
