Like many others, I am under huge pressure from credit cards and other debts.
The companies are aware that I have MS and work from home. Business has been particularly bad over the last 2 years and debts have spiraled. I have taken advice and all my creditors are happy with what has been offered except for Capital One's appointed debt collectors. They require a report from my GP confirming my illness, despite the fact it is not the illness that is causing my inability to pay!
Is anyone able to advise whether the company has a right to call for such a medical report? I have a local business and have no desire to discuss my current financial situation with my GP. I cannot afford to spend money on petrol, driving a 20 mile round trip to visit him and then have to pay for a report.
I would be grateful for any advice/assistance offered. Thank you
