Sent wrong bank statements!

please help.

I'm sure by now if you have looked at my past threads that i have not been doing so well lately on the mortgage front.

To cut a long story short, i have sent the wrong bank statements to the underwriters.
I had a copy at home that i have altered with tipex to take the word 'casino' off my transactions - the rest of the description is still in tact and the amount has not been changed. This was done for me to take that word out of my life and as i did not want my husband to see the word on my bank statements. These are the ones that i sent in!

The copy i should have sent off is in front of me - full descriptions and everything - nothing amended.

I need to send in certified copies as they didnt accept my printouts for security which will show the full description.

I'm crying at the moment because i feel like i cant do anything right.

What should i do?

Please give me some help.
Can i call the bank and tell them it was a genuine mistake?
I do not want them to think i was committing fraud - i honestly was not.

My head has not been in the right place with my studying and this house buying.

Have i messed everything up?

We applied through a broker so i gave him all the paperwork.

  • I would be amazed if a broker sent in a tippexed bank statement !!

There is nothing wrong with gambling if it falls within normal discretionary spend levels/frequency.

I really feel this whole case is one to be discussed with your husband and your broker, not on a public forum

I don't think the OP is being completely up front in her posts as another thread mentioned that she only occasionally gambled small amounts, while this one gave a different story

So i came clean to my husband at the weekend about a £5000 debt i have.
We had been arguing a lot over the last couple of months. One night, in despair i left the house and ended up in a casino where i spent £5000 on my credit card.

I'd think an underwriter will think you're trying to hide your gambling. Phone your broker, and I'd advise telling people (I don't mean people on here, but people who you are dealing with) the full story, rather than trying to cover up.

If the Underwriter/lender gets the slightest whiff of non-disclosure and/or tampering with submissions, whilst in itself not classed as fraudulent (depending on whats been "omitted" or "adjusted"- it is most definately decietful, and may make them go through everything else with a fine toothcomb and then some.

You don't need to be told the obvious that you've been very silly with this - but you need to now be prepared (if the amended statements were submitted) that the lender may now ask for all sorts of evidence to support your application, as your character will have been called in to question - not because you like a flutter - but because you had the forethought to attempt to conceal it in submitted documentation - and this on its own may make an UW tetchy enough to decline it altogether if they "don't like the feel of it".

I do feel for you, and not mean to be negative, but would rather be honest so that you are prepared. You have a broker, which is great news, as he will no doubt try to smooth the waters and overturn any rejection with the lender - including getting the lender rep involved if he thinks it can be swung ..

    Good luck pet ..

If you don't want others to think that, don't send them dogdy, tempered with documents.

Sounds to me like there are some underlying problems needing resolved before re-mortgaging again with your husband!
