Mortgage options when deposit is 2/3rds of the property value
Hi As per the thread title, I want to buy a property and will only need to borrow 1/3rd of the property value (putting down £100k on a £150k house). I am clueless about mortgages and used a broker every other time I've bought but thought I'd try to fathom it out without one this time I've done a quick search and, as I also…

National Hunt Racing:
Does the National Hunt season have any influence on ones mortgage application? I have heard they are regulated by horses? Surely this is incorrect as I have been declined and yet I think it has nothing to do with them whatsoever...? If I do not get a reply to this I will be posting again in 4 minutes. Thanks Wotiang

What looks best for Mortgage Application?
I currently have a £4,000 loan which I pay less than £250 a month back on and also a credit card which has just under £4,000 on it. I have just over £4,000 in the bank and want to apply for a joint mortgage with husband. Should I pay the credit card off? Or keep the 'savings' in the bank? Which will look better please?

Interest only or Repayment, please help?
Hi, my wife and i bought a 2 bed bungalow for £205,500, 3 years ago. We live in Bournemouth. The house needed a major update which is now complete. We recently had the house valued by HBOS, who have put the value at £200,000. Our mortgage has 15 years to go. I am quite happy with that valuation, considering the downturn…

Mortagage after an IVA??
Hi everyone! I am in an IVA that is due to finish Nov 2011, I was told that an IVA stays on your file for a year after it finishes and is then wiped off. I have no other adverse items on my credit file. My plan is to see the IVA out then save up a deposit for a year or two after that with the money that used to be paid to…

Default?
Hi all, probably an obvious answer to this but it's not one I know. Is there a difference between a default and a late payment? I have two late payments (of a couple of days on each occasion) and wondered how much this would impact on any credit application. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Thanks
