Who can do certified copy of my passport? What professions I mean.
Just got off the phone with the solicitors who are sorting my current mortgage application to Abbey. They want a certified copy of my passport. They told me a bank manager, solicitor or doctor can do this. Both will charge of course. Is there anywhere else I can get this done without paying?

Mortgage for new-build flat
Hi all, I am a FTB trying to buy a new-build flat for 120k. I have a deposit of 15% (18k) but am struggling to find a mortgage. The closest I can find is the Halifax who are offering 80% LTV for a new build. I am exploring a vendor cash back option to get me there, but thought I would ask on here if anyone knew of a lender…

Bridging loan. Help.
Help needed please? I am in the process of buying a new build Wimpey house. They have told me that I have to complete by the 30th June, and that is not negotiable. However I have just realised that (a massive oversight by me) my deposit money is tied up in a fixed rate bond account until the 17th July (I thought it was…

We're currently tied in to a Tracker mortgage with the Nationwide until early 2010, however we're currently looking to move house and buy a bigger property. Obviously we want to avoid having to pay the redemption…

Hi,:hello: We are in the process of (hopefully) remortgaging our own residential property, which was last remortgaged 2 years ago, when we moved our mortgage to the Woolwich , who instructed a Valuer to "value" our property. Should I tie into a fixed rate now or wait?
Hi, I am currently on a variable rate but would feel safer on a fixed rate. Do you think now is a good time to tie in for 2/3 years? I have a rate through a mortgage adviser with the Abbey at 4.59% for 3 years with no arrangement fee. My mortgage payments will go up approximately £45 per month. Should I wait a bit longer?…

3 "Payments are up to one month late" on credit file - mortgage issue?
I have 3 consecutive "Payments are up to one month late" recorded on my credit file from 2004 on one credit card. It's then "Payments are up to date" until I closed the account. Other than that my file is clean: no missed payments/defaults before or since, and I've always (apart from this account) paid my credit card…

Mortgages for the Self Employed
My friend was sold his mortgage last year, in my opinion, by an unscrupulous broker. The advice he was given resulted in him being promised a 'reasonable sounding mortgage' which after the broker dissapeared was withdrawn. In a panic my friend found a mortgage on the internet which made all sorts of promises. Consequently…
