Who can do certified copy of my passport? What professions I mean.

Just got off the phone with the solicitors who are sorting my current mortgage application to Abbey.

They want a certified copy of my passport.

They told me a bank manager, solicitor or doctor can do this. Both will charge of course.

Is there anywhere else I can get this done without paying?

I've not gone through a broker. Can't say I know any coppers either.

I thought it was a bit restrictive.

Know plenty of teachers and social workers so it should be easy.

    Thanks for that:beer:

A lot of places/people have stopped doing them as signing something as a certified copy carries a liability. If they are not earning anything from it, there is no reason to carry that liability.

Librarian used to be on there - I've signed loads in the past. Did one earlier this year in fact. Wonder what we did to be deemed unsuitable all of a sudden.

I'm currently applying for mortgages, making offers on properties and all the rignarole we know and love and when asked for a certified copy of my passport i always get the estate agent to put their company stamp on a photocopy of my passport and then sign it.

    Seems to work.
