Cheshire Mortgage
Hello, I am a first time buyer and in the process of submitting my mortgage application through Cheshire Mortgage Corporation (Subprime lender). I have had to go throw a Sub Prime lender due a default I had back in Uni in 2004 and the fact that no banks will borrow to me because of this. I just wanted to know if anyone has…

Longer term mortgage rates
Hi all, I'm just about to take on a fairly large mortgage, and was wondering what people thought was going to happen over the next 2-5 years. Basically, the 2 year fixed rate that I can get is very attractive, with the 5 year being £300 odd per month more. The $1million dollar question is: Do I want to be re-negotiating in…

Hi, I have a question about mortgages! I was talking to a chap the other day who got a mortgage a few months ago. I have successfully claimed and received compensation for two miss sold endowments. This afternoon I received a phone call from a solicitor advising that I could also re claim any commission charges that have been paid out to the people/organisations that sold me these policies. I am slightly weary of this as I have not…

First time buyer advice needed...
Hi, I'm potentially a first time buyer looking to move in with my girlfriend. She has around £20k in savings and I could raise 5. Currently combined salary is around £46k so have guessed at 150k as a sensible figure when looking online?! 1) is it even worth buying at the moment, or renting and saving a bigger deposit? 2) I…

Hope for FTBs!
We posted on here for advice a few weeks ago, as novice FTBs who desperately needed some help. We thought we would have no chance getting a mortgage at the moment, never mind a mortgage at 95% LTV with a chequered credit history, and other posters suggested that our house was not eligible for a mortgage as it had no…

Offset - is it a good idea to overpay right now
Just found out I was overpaying my offset, because of the timing of their annual calcualtion back in October before the heavy rate cuts. Apparently this level of overpayment would have led to paying it off in 15 years (rather than 22). This is a tracker, so my rate is currently 1.48%. the question is, does this temporary…
