Hi,
I have a question about mortgages!
I was talking to a chap the other day who got a mortgage a few months ago.
He said he had got his uncle who he works for to make out payslips for more than he was actually earning just to show the bank!!
I know the country is in a mess and i found it unbelievable that banks would do this!!
Havnt they got a way of checking with the inland revenue ect so that people cant lie?? Madness!!!
If not then why!!! surely this would have stopped alot of the trouble we are in now! Wouldnt it
Anyway im not worried about a mortage just yet!! Saving saving saving for me !
Cant wait to see what the numbers are at the end of the month for house price drops :j
Sorry everyone who isnt doing well from all this

So you think it's the bank's fault not the person you spoke to (who, along with his uncle, was quite happy to commit fraud)?0

I dont think the OP was advocating any criminal offences, just stating that the banks should know better. I for one agree.
While I obviously dont condone what this guy is doing, he is going to keep getting away with it until the bank decide to conduct prooper checks.0 -
No i dont think its all down to the bank.
And i for one think he must be off his rocker for doing it in the first place including his uncle!
But i also thought that the bank would have made better checks, especially now.
So what is this telling people who cant afford a mortgage?
Just fake some paper work and your sorted. You dont even need a job realy.
I think its scary!0 -
LOL maybe they were good.
The bank can and do check the tax numbers from time to time. But who are to say that the salary info would be correct.
As the OP stated the salary slips were for more, not a different person at a different job.
I have seen fake slips, both good and bad. I got one run in when I worked for a lender that had been left unperforated and the tax amount were the same for all three month, the dim wit did not add them up!!
I have also had good cases rejected becuase of the inland revenue giving wrong info! I got it sorted but it was a pain!"Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." Thomas Jefferson
"How can I believe in God when just last week I got my tongue caught in the roller of an electric typewriter?" Woody Allen

Plenty of online sites offer fake payslips too - they were a thriving business in the liar loan days, when banks didn't really care if you earned what you said you earned.

When coucil houses were sold at a discount the new owner had good equity in their house and house prices were rising anyway.
The house was therefore good security for a mortgage as it was bought for half price and started with 50% equity which then increased.
In these circumstances it did not matter to the lender that an owner was lying about their income. If it came to the crunch they could do a repossession of the property.
I think that was when they started Self Asssessment for the self employed................................I have put my clock back....... Kcolc ym0
