The Woolwich prevents interest only switch
I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced problems with lenders preventing them from switching to interest only. The Woolwich says that it has stopped doing this from mid December 2008 'in order to be seen as a responsible lender'. I rather think it is an excercise in protecting its own interests than in helping its…

How many would be in trouble if rates went to 10%?
It would be interesting to know if people who are now on 3 and 4% rates could sevice their mortgages if rates went up to say 10% in a year or so. Talking to some people I know it appears many do not even know how much a 1% rise increases their payments.

Endowment; time to jump?
as we all know that they will almost all show a shortfall in the near future; but my latest projection is that the 12k units I hold are worth £23k ATM; on a unit price of £1.81 (up 10p since the end of 2007) the policy is due to mature in just under 3 years. Do I continue to watch the unit price and surrender it as soon as…

Getting out of a fix without/reducing ERP - is this possible?
I included this in an earlier thread but realise it perhaps is worthy of more general discussion. With many mortgage companies you can decrease your term if you wish - this has the result of increasing your monthly payments to pay off more capital each month. I wonder what would happen if the term of your mortgage was cut…
